Yes, because it's horseshit.

Open your eyes and WATCH the games fool, then maybe you won't need to hear it.Robceltsfan wrote:thedangerouskitchen wrote:... NOR do they play Defense anymore.Smelters wrote: Stop dude. I gave you examples also. It's players in the game now that have no concept of a midrange game or even have a post up game.
That is why I said earlier to you that it can be a little bit of both. You are trying to win an argument that is hard to win. I'm just trying to wake you up.
They actually used bigs back then so they got to go to the line. Nowadays you have perimeter players dominating the ball so things like ft% would probably be better.
The 3pt shot wasn't as prevalent back then as it is now, so there are trade offs.

Well, obviously they play defense, Robby. They may not play as tough of D but they do play defense.Robceltsfan wrote:Deez Na wrote:that they don't play defense?Robceltsfan wrote:

Playing defense against teams that make you guard all the way out to the three point line against almost everyone is stinking difficult, especially if those guys are also good passers. It's almost impossible if enough of those guys can also put the rock on the deck and drive it and dish or finish.Deez Na wrote:Well, obviously they play defense, Robby. Defense today is garbage... and we saw just how bad it is in the Finals (122-115 was the average score in the series... you call that "playing Defense"?)
Absolutely, half the teams I play in league up here is just solid 3 point shooters. You can't let them get any look at all. Sucks defending those 20 years olds off screens and shit all game when you are in your mid 30'svcsgrizzfan wrote:Playing defense against teams that make you guard all the way out to the three point line against almost everyone is stinking difficult, especially if those guys are also good passers. Exactly... until the Bad Boys changed the focus of the game in the late 80's, teams were far more Offensive oriented with much less focus on Defense (relative to the 90's), just like it is today.Robceltsfan wrote:thedangerouskitchen wrote:Open your eyes and WATCH the games fool, then maybe you won't need to hear it.Robceltsfan wrote:

And in the '87 Finals the average score was 115-111. In '85 it was 116-113. So what?
Just because Jordan and the Bulls ushered in the era of shitty offense doesn't mean that teams today don't play decent defense.
It would suck even more if you had to defend the perimeter AND the mid-range / paint area... which you don't have to do today because everything is perimeter-oriented.Deez Na wrote:Absolutely, half the teams I play in league up here is just solid 3 point shooters. Thanks for proving my point.
You've never played a game of basketball in your life. So really, it's actually easier to defend today because there's nothing else going on from 20-feet and in.
TDK wonders why RobTot is deflecting, and talking about every year OTHER than "this" year, especially since TDK specifically mentioned "today's" Defense.Robceltsfan wrote:thedangerouskitchen wrote:Exactly... until the Bad Boys changed the focus of the game in the late 80's, teams were far more Offensive oriented with much less focus on Defense (relative to the 90's).Robceltsfan wrote:

1990 Finals - Pistons/Blazers - 107-102 (average score)
2016 Finals - Cavs/Dubs - 100-100
2015 Finals - Cavs/Dubs - 101-94
So the Cavs and Dubs in 16 and 15 played better D than the Bad Boy Pistons.
INCREDIBLE!!! WoW!!!
5 guys guarding the perimeter only is MUCH easier than 5 guys having the guard the perimeter, mid-range and paint... it's painfully obvious you're still stuck-on-stupid from that beat-down you got on the other thread.vcsgrizzfan wrote:You've never played a game of basketball in your life. I did talk about this year, moron. I even compared it directly to some of the 80's high scoring seasons....back when you claim everyone got beat down anytime they got within a 15 foot radius of the rim.thedangerouskitchen wrote:TDK wonders why RobTot is deflecting, and talking about every year OTHER than "this" year, especially since TDK specifically mentioned "today's" Defense.Robceltsfan wrote:thedangerouskitchen wrote:

...and you were beat-down hard with the facts (ie; the NBA was faaaaaar less Defense-oriented UNTIL the Bad Boys changed the mindset of teams in the late 80's).Robceltsfan wrote:I did talk about this year, moron. Regardless, your take on pretty much every subject is the same. Era "X" is shit....the 90's were the greatest. Player "X" is shit....Jordan is the greatest. Team "X" is shit....the Bulls were the greatest.

Then you deflected like a coward and started talking about 2015, 2016, etc.
Bottom line: You're a complete fool if you think today's Defense is anything other than mediocre AT BEST... and no matter how hard you try, you'll never change the fact that the Defense played in the 2017 Finals was horrendous.
Just because you can't handle facts is no reason to get all riled up.
That's because there really is nothing much to say... Jordan IS the GOAT, the 90's Bulls ARE the greatest Dynasty in modern NBA history... the Defense played in the 90's was much better than the YMCA type Defense we see today, etc.Havlicekstealsit wrote:"your take on pretty much every subject is the same. It's why I don't engage much once he stumbles into a thread. Next to Artman, never before has a poster typed so much yet says so little.

How about this.
Offenses of the 90's and early 00's fucking sucked ass until the league was forced to change the rules to help the product that Michael Jordan ruined.
