So what? Kershaw has a 4.5 ERA in the postseason, Verlander used to be bad in the postseason too at one time...the point is they have time to turn it around and based on the humongous sample sizes of success these pitchers have, there is reason to believe it will happen at some point for them. Got it, guy?Repeat3peat wrote:Pretty sure the implication for the "bum label" was directed at his post season performances only....at least that's what common sense would tell most considering he CITED THOSE NUMBERS only.xer0 wrote:So you ARE that stupid, why am I not surprised from a proven imbecile. 63 Innings > 1400+ Innings of 3 ERA ball is enough to call a pitcher a bum, according to tdk and his nut gobbling butt buddy.

Besides that, tdk used those numbers ONLY and claimed that's the production the Sox are paying 31 a year for. No dumbfuck, they are paying for the 200+ IP of ball he's going to throw to help GET you to the postseason, pretty fucking stupid to leave that out no?

Which is why I said I wasn't ready to give him that label just yet...he has pitched in some REALLY shitty luck in some of his post season starts as well. Still it's a large enough sample size for some legitimate concern...especially when forking out a guaranteed 31 mill a year, for 7 years, to a guy going on the wrong side of 30....who also had a LOT of mileage put on him in Tampa(they knew they couldn't keep him and rode him like a donkey). Be GLAD the Tigers aren't the ones who made that deal which is almost a guaranteed disaster over the last 3 years of that deal...minimum.
Re: David Price signs with the Red Sox for $217 million over 7 years
I am glad, I wanted no part of Price due to age and money/length that he was sure to command, same goes for Scherzer, and with how Verlander dropped off after his huge deal it made it even more of a concern.Repeat3peat wrote:xer0 wrote:So what? Cubs made the same GIGANTIC mistake with Lester....it's hard to fathom Theo not realizing the trouble he would have in the NL hitting/fielding/holding runners etc knowing him how he does....and this was in the 1st year of the deal...the first few years is where they need "Big game Jon" to EARN and beast and why he got the $$$ he did, because he sure as hell isn't likely to justify it in the "back half"...he best pull his head out over the next 3 or it's a Zito like disaster in the makings.xer0 wrote:I am glad, I wanted no part of Price due to age and money/length that he was sure to command, same goes for Scherzer, and with how Verlander dropped off after his huge deal it made it even more of a concern.Repeat3peat wrote:xer0 wrote:

Cubs will literally never beat the Mets in the postseason in this era. Mets pitching is a nightmare for the Cubs strikeout all or nothing bats. Pray someone takes us out before you see us or it'll be another 4 quick ones.
Cubs are actually kind of fucked, the NL force everyone has to reckon with for many years to come is a matchup nightmare for them to boot lol

Pray that baseball doesn't go to computerized strike zones...That and Murphy's fluke run were the entire difference between the 7-0 beat down in the regular season and the garbage we saw in 4 games in the NLCS....Cubs work the starters, make them throw strikes, get their pitch counts up and get into the other teams bullpen... getting 4 inches off every corner like we saw in the NLCS(for 1 team mind you) negates that and was a disgrace to the game the entire world witnessed.Kobeunderbite wrote:Repeat3peat wrote:Agreed.Kobeunderbite wrote:Lester was actually okay in that game 1, the Cubs allegedly good young bats just got shit on by a floating strike zone all series.

Have fun when half those "arms" are on the shelf over the next couple years and the strike zone is universalized.

your tears are too delicious, kid.
All I have to pray for is to face the Cubs again in the postseason. Rarely have I seen a more visually pleasing ass pounding than the one the NYM staff gave to the overhyped strikeout factory they employ in Chicago. Imagine when Wheeler is back, and Harvey is another year removed from TJ, and Syndy even better than his rookie form? Too delish, I cannot wait, I just can't.
4 of the 5 already had their TJ bro, I wouldn't worry about too much shelving.

You have to think the baseball salary bubble will burst at some point. But I have a feeling NBA contracts will put them to shame when the new TV money kicks in. Can you say $40-45 million/year contracts? NFL players are definitely pissed that they're breaking their bodies and scrambling their brains for a fraction (plus it's non-guaranteed) of what these guys are making.PhutureDynasty wrote:Here's an interesting question, if all sports had no salary cap and each player signs their contracts the same year who is the highest paid for each sport?
Baseball - I'd assume Trout although I'm sure Abe will argue Mauer
Football - Luck? Watt? Brady? Newton?
Hockey - Likely Crosby or Toews
Basketball - Curry? Durant? LeBron? McConnell?
PoLIEtics is for gay fags.

The "relevant" Cubs bats choked like dogs needing of putting down for the entire playoffs basically...whether it was junk ballers like Lackey or power pitchers from the Mets...they flat out shit their pants in epic Cub fashion, at the plate and in the field.

No choking occurred. They got anally opened up and pounded by a superior team. You idiots spouted off about 7-0 when in reality they barely even faced the real NYM gauntlet in the regular season. They faced Harvey/Noah/JDG four times and got them for more than three runs once aside from it being Noah's ML debut, and it was during the worst run of JDG's career.
Manhandled by the better team.

Cubs got smoked last year no doubt. With that being said I couldn't have been happier with the season as a whole. If you were to tell me we made it to the NLCS at the beginning of the year I woulda been ecstatic.

For a 4 game, HEAVILY ump aided, choke aided, Murphy fluked sample size.Kobeunderbite wrote:No choking occurred. They got anally opened up and pounded by a superior team.
