Jordan is the GOAT... the only legit question is, who is #2.

MJ......then a Milky Way sized gap to #2.

Doesn't have the most total points.
Doesn't have the most win shares.
Doesn't have the most defensive win shares.

But he's somehow the GOAT?

:biggums:

What 1 player leads in all those categories...?

lol

Here's the bottom line why Jordan is the GOAT... and the proof will center on the fact that you will find no one player can match this Total Package of Domination:

1) Hands-down the undisputed greatest Player and greatest Winner of his generation (only Mikan can say the say)

2) Hands-down the greatest two-way player ever... ie; most Dominating Scorer of all-time and the greatest Defensive player ever at his position (no other player in history can say the same)

3) Hands-down the greatest and most dominating Playoff / Finals performer ever (no other player in NBA history is close)

Thus, when you look at the complete package and compare it to any other player, it becomes crystal clear why there is only one -1- real GOAT... and that player is Michael Jordan.

lol total copout I know. After both are off the board I'm going all-in for Hakeem though. A bit high but if I plant the seed could help him gain traction.

Jordan is the unquestioned GOAT to me. I find it fascinating that lot's of people are picking Kareem. I'd pick both Russell and Magic before i pick Kareem.

Yeah. It does. I'm kind of in the same camp but forced to pick one I take Russell and then KAJ third.

Well if winning was the be-all-end-all, Sam Jones won 10 rings in 12 years "and" he was Boston's most prolific Scorer for most of his career... yet you'd be hard-pressed to find his name on anyone's Top 5-10-15-20 list.

Just sayin'...

Sam Jones was never considered a lead dog or anything close to that. Russell, except for his rookie season where he finished 7th in MVP voting because he missed a third of the season due to the Melbourne Olympics and his final season when he also finished 7th in MVP voting was always top 4 in MVP voting and always the lead dog. Sam Jones backed up Sharman for a number of those rings. He was a 'nice' player.

Overlooked also with Russell are his two collegiate titles at USF which was a complete non basketball power before and after him.

Like I said, all Russell did was win.

this is primarily because Kareem kept the press distant, was a West-centric athlete and his conversion to Islam was viewed as radical.
Kareem's greatest sin is poor PR.

There's no way that I can tally one vote for two players. If he's only giving the slightest edge to Russell By calling him 1A then I'll mark that.

Wasn't sure if he was "coin flipping" his selection without actually naming a winner.

Tomorrow night or an insurmountable lead occurs. Whichever happens first.
