Makes perfect sense to me and I agree with him. Doctors and teachers are anyways just programmed to regurgitate what they were taught in school, why wouldn't AI do a better job of teaching or diagnosing?

AI robots will be doing all our work. There will be tens of billions of them. Unlimited, free ethical slave labor for all mankind.
Want a new addition to your house? 9 robots will be right over to build it, after they pick up supplies from Home Depot.
Grandpa needs a nurse? A robot will hang out with him 24/7 and take care of him.
We already have the affordable robot hardware designs. We can see the intellect of AI. The hard part will be the training. It's easy to train for an LLM when all of human history's recorded text can fit on a flash drive. Next is Tesla's self driving, where they have billions of miles of POV driving footage from their cars to train with. Still image and video art has been easy to train because the internet is full of it. But real world data wont be as easy. IMO maybe they can learn to train from 3rd person views, and use security camera footage. But that's going to take time. I'm not an AI expert. Im not sure what they have in mind for real world robot training. But I'm sure solutions exist and the industry is on top of it.
This future is 20-25 years away probably.
Sooner than that, AI will have such a deep understanding of science and physics that it can maybe develop new life extending drugs, and cures for diseases.

Maybe. But if he doesnt, AI will. Heart attacks and strokes are a bigger problem than cancer though.kobeunderbite wrote: ↑Thu Mar 27, 2025 4:40 pmUncontroversial wrote: ↑Thu Mar 27, 2025 4:20 pm AI robots will be doing all our work. there will never be robot teachers unless they can electrically zap kids when they get out of line. You think a room full of kids are going to listen to a robot unsupervised by human adults?

Sorry not happening in our lifetime. You will be worm food within the next 25-40 years like the rest of us. We were born just a little too early. Oh well.Uncontroversial wrote: ↑Thu Mar 27, 2025 4:20 pm

May be some hope for our kids. You still got some time to knock some tinder broad up so at least someone in your gene pool has a shot at immortality.

I think it could happen in our lifetimes, but we’d probably already be old and decrepit.Titan18 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 27, 2025 11:54 pmSorry not happening in our lifetime. Yea I agree.. none of this is happening in our lifetimes. Kinda funny how ol’ Russell is whistling in the dark though.. this is what happens when a childless weirdo starts to get older lolTitan18 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 27, 2025 11:54 pmSorry not happening in our lifetime. I'm old enough to see an entire generation of futurists and scientists/techies overpromise and underdeliver in terms of deliverables and time frame.
My personal rule of thumb is to expect about 60 percent of what they promise in 3x the period of time promised.
AI might be a little bit different though. I'd be happy to be wrong.

We were supposed to be flying around in cars by now.
Pump the breaks on this AI shit. It'll happen....but not anytime in the super near future.

We don't have flying cars but we have things that are well beyond people's imaginations from when flying cars were predicted so I don't really agree with this premise

No one thought ai would be this advanced by now and if the infrastructure was in place it would already be capable of eliminating almost every graphic design and writing job in the economy

In a way, self driving cars will be better than flying cars. You still had to pay attention to controlling the vehicle in the theoretical flying car. In a self driving car, you can chill in the back, nap, drink a beer, work on your laptop, watch Netflix on the screen/sound system, or do whatever you want.Robceltsfan wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 8:51 am We were supposed to be flying around in cars by now.

Your car can also take your kids to school and pick them up while you sleep or work. Can pick up groceries with no delivery fee or tip. Or do paid uber rides for people and earn you money while you chill at home

True and that was basically beyond what people could comprehend in the Jetsons tv era. The future will be even more advanced than we think and I would bet cancer is cured within 20 years.

The economy is going to be obliterated. Why would anyone hire someone to build them a website? "Hey chatgpt, I need a site for my plumbing service. Here's a list of my prices, please build this and make it sound exciting. The vibe should be apple meets punk rock. Also give me a company logo and a design for my business cards and order me 1,000 to my house. Then send my most common Chick-fil-A order to my wife's boyfriends house."
Boom. 40 jobs eliminated from 70,000 companies each.

Do you actually think big Parma or the elites will actually allow anyone or any “thing” to cure cancer though?
