They’d beat any Magic team in history.

No team in Magician history has ever won a title.

The 2004 Pistons are champs. Hence... no team in Magic history would beat them.

You love to see it.
It's a watered down blue ribbon this year... it a true title..not all teams even played the same amount of games...its just a means to finish off something that otherwise would be deemed a waste of several months already pkayed...

Probably. this series should be tied 2-2 and the 2004 Lakers were better than this Lakers team

First off, those Pistons couldn't fucking shoot. They had about 14-15 three point attempts a game to defend -- how would they defend the Lakers average of 32 a night? Chauncey & Tayshaun are going to have to DT LeBron at 94 feet, while AD's gonna drag Ben outside every possession, freeing up the paint like it's a layup line. Corliss Williamson, Mehmet Okur, and Lindsay Hunter were part of the main bench subs in the playoffs. Read those names again and realize LA off the bench brings in guys with DPOYs, assist titles, and a couple championships under their belts.

The last 8 teams from this year's playoffs would have all taken a giant dump on that Pistons team. It's not a cheap shot at that team, but it's just the progression of the game. Their inability to hit enough threes and the overall weakness of their offense wouldn't come close to making up for their strengths on defense.

Ben was an incredible defender and rebounder but AD would have limited his usefulness by pulling him away from the bucket. On the other end, AD could pretty much ignore him and help defend at will.

They would have adapted and they did score plenty

Might have taken awhile. Larry Brown was notorious for not playing rookies or younger guys, which is part of the reason the US wound up with bronze since Bron, Wade, Melo & Amare hardly got good minutes.

They were 19th in offensive rating Artie. And that was in an era where the 3 wasn't nearly as prevalent. They'd be lower yet in this era. You flap your gums and move air but never say anything.

The 2004 Pistons were literally a below-average offense team by 2004 standards (18th best in terms of points per possession).

By 2020 standards they might be in the running for a bottom three offense.
