I'm not aware of many books on the subject but there are some articles and papers.
It's one of those things that you're really just not allowed to question by mainstream science, or you get blacklisted and labeled a crackpot. Actual science should be able to withstand a bit of scrutiny and questioning. Most people are afraid to do much more than question on the periphery.

There are some decent books on giants, since it's a little more accepted to put forward a theory than to claim accepted theories are hoaxes.
