For those who have fired weapons...

Post by PhutureDynasty »

... are you an accurate shooter?

I have only fired pistols, never a rifle. It was at an outside gun range and I was aiming at the generic paper target around 15 yards away (could have been further) but I wasn't a great shot. Pretty wide cluster and I definitely missed it a few times entirely IIRC.

How about you?

In the COD 4, Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops days I was easily the best player on this forum. Nukes were routine for me and I messed around a lot with the throwing knife and tomahawk because it fun and otherwise could get boring. Before they nerfed the Spas 12 I would get multiple nukes a game with it almost every time in MW2.

I'm a decent shot with a handgun but I don't practice as much as I should anymore. Bought the wife a 9mm for valentines day a few years back and she caught on quickly. She had never shot before but now she's better than I am. We bought some of those battleships targets and she was beating me after only a few times at the range lol.

I'm "respectable" at the range (although I haven't been in a while either), but to be honest I wouldn't have tons of confidence in my ability to shoot under stress, which is probably a more relevant aspect.

I would be very interested in you elaborating on your abilities with real shooting weapons.

What proof of ability do you have?

What are your specific experiences?

It isnt all that difficult to become a an accurate shooter on a range. Learning to breathe properly, stance and grip, along with a little practice, and you would get pretty good.
I dont really shoot like that anymore. I like to create little scenarios in my head, and work tactically from that. For me my range time consists of getting the gun from my holster to shots on target as quickly as possible.

I know you dont really understand the importance...

I hope the day never comes where I would be put in a situation to use it, but if it does happen, training and preparing is the responsible thing to do, unless you are dumb as Deez...I carry a gun with me at all times. Real life and video games are two different things...Have you ever pulled a loaded gun out of your waistband and shot anything?...Sounds easy, but unless you train and prepare, shit can go south, especially if the other guy might be shooting at you...
You box...Would you go into a boxing match without training?

I mean no I wouldn’t… although TBH I haven’t done any boxing in a few years now. I have a bad temper, and I’m more likely to be that crazy asshole who fires shots in a fit of road rage, so it’s best that I don’t really know guns anyway.

Lately I’ve been living a life of peace. :D

I used to be pretty good. As I've aged my eyesight has diminished, which makes it harder.

Vis a vis Arty's claims, I remember a thread sometime recently (which probably means last 5 years) where he was blathering about how he had killed a deer. When pressed, he couldn't name the weapon he used. So (and brace yourselves for the shock) he is lying again.

Again, remember, I carry a gun...It would be irresponsible not to train. If I gave you a gun, and said he pull this thing out of your holster, and shoot a few shots. Could you do it? Probably.
Now, if I give you a gun, and put a guy 15 feet away from you who has a gun, and he is going to kill you unless you kill him first, do you think that you could just do it? Might not be so easy. Training and knowing what to do will help in moments of high pressure, and fear...Will you panic, or will you fall back on your training?
You can dance around a boxing ring, throw punches etc., but can you continue to put together a gameplan, and stay in form after someone has punched you right in the mouth? Without training, you got no shot. You would flail away, run, stick that chin out there and get humiliated.

I've helped fire an LGM-30G. It wasn't armed, but still...

It was very accurate.
