Thank you.

I decided to get myself a gaming laptop for Christmas this year, so when I can actually run the game I'll go buy it.

I'm going to try and start Diablo 4 soon. I just finished off a poison Necromancer to level 90 and frost/fire Bowazon to level 80, and also organized my mules and inventory.

Light Sorc Level 92
Cold Sorc Level 90
Hammerdin Level 90
FOH Paladin Level 91
Poison Necromancer Level 90
Lightning Javazon Level 90
Frost/Fire Bowazon Level 80

Pretty rich in terms of inventory as well. I did a major cleaning and dumped a bunch of stuff a few nights ago. It made a bunch of Chinese people really happy. I did try and make sure I was throwing it to people and not bots.

Highlights of what I still have:

Engima x 5
Heart of the Oak x 5
Death's Web x 1
Herald of Zakarum x 3
Shako x 8 (?)
Titan's Revenge x 2
Infinity x 3
Stone of Jordan x 3
Arach Mesh x 8
Mara's Amulet x 5
Andy's Visage x 7
Anni Charm x about 20
Hellfire Torch x about 10
Maybe 30 +1 Skillers

According to a spreadsheet I've collected about 94 percent of the Holy Grail items. Unfortunately, I got some biggies left including Tyrael's Might, Crown of Ages, Wisp Projector (I would use this too), and solo self-finding a Zod (instead of trading or crafting or buying outright like I did my first one). So in terms of playing time I'm probably not even halfway done. I've heard people joke that finding Tyrael's takes as much time as finding everything else combined.

1/400,000 is the apparent drop rate for Tyrael's Might.

It's sort of like hitting the lottery in D2.

Decided to play a little just now. Got into a slot of time with terrorized Andariel.

About five minutes in I get this:

Griffons
Wisp Projector
Titan's Revenge

In back-to-back-to-back drops.

The Griffons and Wisp Projector were my first ones so I got to check them off the Holy Grail.

Unfortunately the Griffons had a stink roll (191 defense -15 enemy light resist, and +11 light damage), and the Wisp was relatively mid (+14 light absorb and +17 MF), but it was crazy to get it in quick succession. The Titan's wasn't ethereal but it was good enough to replace my secondary Titan's too.

I made the decision ("The Decision") to take my talents back to single player offline.

I used a Hero Editor to copy my characters and gear from online to offline so I can play with the same characters, but more freedom (like upping player count and the like).

I did one final sweep of my mules and stash online to get it organized for what might be the final time, and I had one stash full of mid-tier gear I had recently found. Figured I'd throw the gear in some random free game.

I go to the game, move to the side and throw the gear. Fine.

A player literally throws down A free Crown of Ages (socketed with two Bers), multiple +20 life small charms, +5 all resist, and some other ultra-high gear. I was able to pick up the COA, and maybe like 10 of the small charms.

I'm debating with myself on whether or not the Crown of Ages drop counts for my Holy Grail. Strictly speaking, I did find it. I didn't buy it. It was found in a real game with non-bots. I wasn't botting myself.

Ultimately, I'm probably voting no because it would be the most lawyered way to tick something off the box, and I have T-Might, Zod, Mangs, and Shadow Dancers left (and maybe about 5-10 other things, IIRC), and I'm sure I'll self-find another Crown of Ages before then anyway.

Naw it counts. I play a lot of MW3 zombies and some of the schematics are damn hard to get, and I’ve been gifted a few randomly from gamers that are heading for the exfil, and I’ve never thought “gee but I didn’t earn it!” Fuck that..

It will make it much more rewarding if you complete the Holy Grail search independent of outside gifting, but it's also a lot harder.

Yes, I agree of course. Almost all my stuff has been found directly or traded in-game for other things I found directly, and with the exception of Zod, everything I paid for I found myself eventually. One thing I'm going to do is simulate trades on the new items I find by looking at the trading sites and programming in the item I would trade for (and dumping the item I would need to trade to get it).

I don't actually care that much about finishing the Holy Grail, but it is always cool to find ultra-rare unique items. Honestly, for upper-tier items, just the drop and anticipation is a neat feeling. I like chasing that feeling.

I just realized it sounds like I'm talking about a heroin addiction.

But I'm just trying to find new value. Creating a 99 level character seems very faintly doable, but would probably take a year of casual play on my Lightning Sorceress (currently two bars from level 95). Maybe even 18 months.

Just did a terrorized Andariel and that hoe dropped a unique Sacred Armor. I shit my pants.

Unfortunately, a Templar's Might and not Tyrael's Might, but it was a wild moment. Only my third unique Sacred Armor drop ever, which have all been Templar's Mights obviously.

Holy Grail Items Left:

1. Tyrael's Might
2. Mang Song's Lesson
3. Shadow Dancers
4. Crown of Ages
5. Astreon's Iron Ward
6. Zod Rune
7. Nightwing's Veil
8. Warpspear

Only eight items by count, but a while to go by play time, since all of those are biggies except Warpspear, which just seems to be an oddity in not dropping so far. Most people doing the Holy Grail seem to have one or two more regular items that elude them from bad RNG luck.

Edit: And just like that, I find a Warpspear lol. Cross it off the list.

Edit 2: Did a hour of terrorized Andariel again. Got some nice stuff, but no godly items or holy grail items...then I go to a terrorized Pit for literally one run before work...and I get another SOJ. Wild!

Edit: 3 Did another terrorized Andariel and got two Nightwing Veils. Crazy.

Just got a legit Crown of Ages. Absolute dogshit roll (1 socket, 21 resist, -13 physical), but it counts.

Holy Grail Items Left:

1. Tyrael's Might
2. Mang Song's Lesson
3. Shadow Dancers
4. Astreon's Iron Ward
5. Zod Rune

The chase goes on...

You remind me of Geglash:

Geglash can be found in Act II of Diablo II and is a warrior who spends a lot of time drinking in Atma's public house and seems to think of nothing but drinking and fighting, though some dialogue with the player character suggests he may be interested in pursuing a romantic relationship with Atma, and that he possesses a measure of sympathy for her situation. He admires the Barbarians for their ferocity, and for their dual wielding abilities. He tells Barbarian characters that he never developed the latter ability, but can carry a sword and a wineskin simultaneously. He is afraid of one thing however, water, and he will not go near it or ships for any reason. He spends his days drunk in Atma's Tavern, not much use as a soldier. He started drinking because the demons were getting too much for him.

Geglash is one of two NPCs in the Diablo series who spends all of his time drinking; the other being Farnham the Drunk from the original Diablo.
