Absolutely insane game tonight.

To answer the question, if it's not, it's on a very short list.

Not taking tonight's game into account, 49.8 points/100 possessions (on 35 a game) is a crazy pace, and TS+ of 112.

The former is beyond *any* Jordan season, and the latter is very slightly behind Jordan's efficiency at his peak (Jordan never combined his max volume with max efficiency).

Somewhat behind Durant's efficiency at his peak, but meaningfully ahead in volume. Curry's 2016 season is significantly ahead in efficiency, but significantly behind in volume. His 2021 season is less extreme in both directions.

About the only mark against Joel is missing games.

My math has him averaging 33.2 against above .500 teams this year over 12 games.
Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are dumber than that.

I wonder if it's when Joel played the team or their current record right now.

That could explain the discrepancy.

That would be a HUGE discrepancy.

Also, he's only had 5 games under 30 points....and only one game below 24 points (it was 20 against Boston).

Sadmess will believe anything he sees on the internet.

In other words, his 5 WORST games have him at an average of 25.0. His 10 worst games have him averaging 27.9.

Madness's graphic is simply wrong.

Not that the word "Defense" means much in this era (since it's rarely played consistently in today's NBA), but a quick glance at Embiid's game logs shows that in his 10 "best" Scoring games so far this year only two (2) have come against Top 10 Defenses... meanwhile a whopping SIX (6) have come against the worst (25th - 30th) ranked Defenses.

Compare that to the GOAT (player AND scorer) Jordan in 1987, when he averaged 37 a game... four (4) of his 10 best Scoring games came against Top 10 Defenses, while just 2 came against the worst (18th-23rd) ranked teams.

Granted, Embiid still has a good chunk of the season to turn that around; however as it stands today it certainly appears as though he's been feasting on the bottom-feeder Defenses. Thus, as of today 1987 Jordan remains the best "Scoring" season ever... at least since the merger anyway.

((PS: Before the BWGC attacks with their "made up" TS stats that are clearly and obviously flawed, the question is whether Embiid is having the best/greatest "Scoring" season ever, not if he's the most "Efficient Shooting" scorer... because if we're talking about the latter then Wilt's 50-PPG "Scoring" season would rank as just the 169th best this year, and anyone with a BB IQ above 0 knows that's pure nonsense.))

Wilt’s 50 point season impresses me less and less as the years pass. There are literally a ton of players that could average 50 a night given 39.5 FGA’s per game.

It’s a cute stat line, but not winning basketball. It’s gimmicky.
