Kareem is going to win because we have a fuckload of Lakers fans here.

LeBron or Kaj at this point. I might have to give the edge to LeBron slightly.

I know it feels weird dropping KAJ to 9 or 10 in a ranking, but that's what happens when you eliminate the prime of a player's career.
Since when is a 7-year peak the be-all-end-all?

Why not 5 years? 10 years?

:L

Also, Lebron plays in the easiest era (by far) relative to the other players in contention, so that explains his regular season hardware.

Case in point, if prime Dream or prime Shaq played today they too would own a boatload of MVP's.
Because 7 good years was about all Kareem had post-merger...but as usual all you can do is think about how much Lebron has ruined you as you whine and moan about how weak you think this era is. I did 7 years to HELP Kareem's case.....and it didn't.

Feel free to vote for whomever you like, but Kareem continues to remain the wrong choice this early in the ranking.
Actually, Jabbar was dropping 23/6/4/56% in his 10th season after the merger... so I'm not sure what is your definition of a "good year".

Regardless, using a 7-year window is still dumb and it proves nothing.

That said, I voted for Dream in this round AND actually agree that Jabbar's number hasn't come up yet. Having said that, neither has LeBron's.

Good in comparison to the others. Is 23/6/4 worthy of #5 on this list?

When you consider Jabbar was 38 years old dropping those numbers, I'd say that's extremely impressive.

Are we doing nominations this round?

If so, I nominate Dwayne Wade.

Is one -1- season worthy of #5 on this list? Of course not, dumb ass. I never implied that it was.

My point is 23/6/4/56% is a hell of a lot better than just a "good" season, and WHEN you consider Jabbar was 38 years old putting up those numbers it actually helps (not hurts) his case in this debate.

LeBron at 38 won't be good enough to play 5 minutes a game.

There's literally no argument to be made for Kareem. No one had presented one at all.

Kareem's case is there:

-5 rings (leader or major contributor on 4)

-high quality longevity

Defensively, I don't give the edge to he nor Lebron. Two different styles that produced great results.

At their peaks, both players were totally unstoppable. On an individual level, I have never witnessed a player with the talent of lebron...other than MJ.

For some, Lebron's playoff disappointments factors pretty heavily In keeping him down on the list.

I voted Kareem Last round. Thankfully I didn't have to change my vote because I seriously had a change of heart. This round, I'm going to take the time to fully evaluate my decision.

Kareem's case is there:

-5 rings (leader or major contributor on 4) Scottie Pippen was a major contributer to six championships. He should be next on this list using that criteria even if statically he doesn't hold a candle to Lebron, Hakeem or Kobe right?

-high quality longevity Again, we're only looking at post-merger numbers. Just because he was old while doing it doesn't gain him brownie points.

Defensively, I don't give the edge to he nor Lebron. Two different styles that produced great results.

At their peaks, both players were totally unstoppable. On an individual level, I have never witnessed a player with the talent of lebron...other than MJ. Except we're not talking about their peaks. This is Kareem at the tail end of his peak. I have Kareem as high as #2 in an all time ranking but in this list he doesn't compare to what Lebron, Hakeem and Kobe have done.

For some, Lebron's playoff disappointments factors pretty heavily In keeping him down on the list. Aside from 2011 (and even then his production would be a career season for most) Lebron has been phenomenal in the Playoffs. He's one of the greatest Playoff performers in NBA history. These people place too much value in team accomplishments. Hakeem should be knocked down a couple more pegs if he took his Playoff disappointments.

I'm sort of convinced Kareem doesn't belong in this spot, so the nexf post-merger on my GOAT list is Kobe, followed by LeBron.

Kobe Bryant is my new vote.
