Only people who actually watch and understand the NBA (so, not you) know Durant is in the discussion, or was "ahead" by some parameter.elartman1973 wrote:Durant was never actually really ahead...only haters and morons thought sovegasfraud wrote:What a terrible night for the haters.

Durant was definitely ahead in the MVP race. As to whether or not he was a better player outright, that was certainly more up in the air (I thought he wasn't and I still don't). Those two categories don't always overlap.elartman1973 wrote:Durant was never actually really ahead...only haters and morons thought sovegasfraud wrote:What a terrible night for the haters.
This is all a warm up to what really counts anyway (playoffs).
Taking a break from the board. Please reference my last post for more details if you are interested.

Durant was ahead and was playing marginally better. Only a cipher would dispute that with the emphasis on the word was. IMHO, it's not how you start but how you finish and the MVP will go to one who finishes better.
At this point in James' career a FMVP is worth three MVPs any way.

That is a very good point. You could be on to something...Carpediem77 wrote:Who wins the MVP has more to do with Westbrook and Wade...those two can either help or hinder their guy during this final stretch...so which guy do u think will assist his guy to win the award and which guy do u think will let some envy creep in and become a hinderance?...I think Wade genuinely wants LeBron to get all the accolades he's getting...on the other hand, I believe Westbrook still has a problem deferring and it will hurt Durant down the stretch...I could be wrong, but I don't think so...we shall see it play out

Havlicekstealsit wrote:I always find ESPN's "experts" to be amusing come the Finals. Here has been Legler's predictions the past couple Finals:
2013: Heat in 7.
2012: Thunder in 6.
2011: Heat in 7.
2010: Celtics in 6.
2009: Lakers in 6.
2008: Celtics in 7.
3-3. Not bad, expert Tim. BTW Legler was the only one of the 10 "experts" that picked the Celtics to win in '08. Abbott & Stein picked the Lakers in 5. Math nerd Hollinger had the Lakers in 6.
That has little to nothing to do with insight. Championship predictions are a guessing game, that my 7 year old niece could just as accurately guess at.
