Putting Garnett, Malone or Barkley ahead of him is stupid. Not surprised VCGriz contemplates that. Dirk was the clear #1 option lead dog on his team when he won that championship.

Garnett never won a ring as the best player on a team, and even on a superteam he only managed one championship. Malone and Barkley never won shit and Malone played with one of the best pg's of all time for like 2 decades.

Dirk not only put his team on his back and won a ring, he beat a Heat team that was far superior on paper and had home advantage.

Dirk also outplayed Durant in his series with the Thunder despite being 32 years old. Id bring up how he outplayed lebron too, but literally 7 different mavs outplayed lebron that Finals.

There was a time I would have taken the bait. Thankfully, with age comes wisdom and I won't.

I have him ranked #3. He's the greatest offensive force to play the game.

Nowitzki is right around that Top 20 mark right now. And he doesn't seem to be slowing down too much.

Depending on the day and criteria, he and Garnett are basically interchangeable. But, as noted before, I think Garnett's legacy gets tarnished with time and with future generations (great defense without gaudy blocked shots is easy to overlook) and I think Nowitzki passes him on the majority of all-time lists.

Both great players. At this point, you just have to marvel at what Nowitzki is doing.

I like what I see of him as a person. I have a bias for people who don't take themselves too seriously.

He's not without flaws but when you factor in his body of work and cultural impact I have him in the top fifteen.
