Carlisle is propping up his boy. Somewhere top 20 maybe, but top 12 is fantasy.y2ktors wrote:Rick Carlisle says: top 12

Re: Where do you rank Dirk on the all-time list?
Basketball-reference has him ranked 54th with Wilt ahead of him at 53 but people vote for that and people are clearly stupid with putting Wilt 53rd.
Re: Where do you rank Dirk on the all-time list?
Lakers fans did the same when Dirk led the sweep of the Lakers 3 years ago. Guy is borderline top 20. No way is he greater than Jerry West or Oscar.vcsgrizzfan wrote:Carlisle is propping up his boy. Somewhere top 20 maybe, but top 12 is fantasy.y2ktors wrote:Rick Carlisle says: top 12

Top 15-17 range. If he wins another title somehow then he vaults close if not in the top 10 for me.
Re: Where do you rank Dirk on the all-time list?
I'd have to look at my list again to be able to rank Dirk accordingly. I recall having Pip as my #20 ranked player of all time.

Guys that are unquestionably ahead of him on the GOAT list include MJ, Russell, KAJ, Magic, Bird, Wilt, Duncan, Shaq, Kobe, LeBron and Hakeem. That's 11 right there and there a significant number of others I would put ahead of him also, but those are at least debatable.I'd have him closer to twenty than ten.WiseGuy wrote:Top 10-15

I can't find Realgm's most updated list but they do them every so often.vcsgrizzfan wrote:Guys that are unquestionably ahead of him on the GOAT list include MJ, Russell, KAJ, Magic, Bird, Wilt, Duncan, Shaq, Kobe, LeBron and Hakeem. Re: Where do you rank Dirk on the all-time list?
Funny you ask. When I was doing some of the names in my head that I might put ahead of him, two that naturally came to mind are Malone and Barkley since they played similar positions. Despite his playoff foibles, I would put Karl (and Moses) Malone ahead of him. I could be convinced either way with Chuck.wailuaFC wrote:Where do you have dirk ranked in regards to barkley?vcsgrizzfan wrote:Me too, but that one has been beaten to death soooo many times..wailuaFC wrote:somewhere below garnett

Top 25-30 ever sounds reasonable. No higher

He's a Mav so I can't be sure I'm being fair, but around 20-25 seems reasonable.
Fear is the mind killer. We are not afraid.
