Fellow Lakers fans.... would you be fine if we get no elite free agents this offseason?

Talk about anything here.

It'd take some clever coaching, some buying in from all parties to their respective roles, and a unique cohesive blend of supporting veterans to get us back to the Finals. Durant and D'angelo could work assuming the OKC blueprint could be adopted by Russell, which I'm sure he wouldn't have a problem with. Them throwing max money at Derozan doe, would be a huge mistake. I like the idea of planting premium level seeds, and watching them grow into the greatness they were genetically destined for without the mudding of free agent instant quick fix contaminants (unless it's Durant).
If something like signing Durant, DeRozan and Whiteside or Horford becomes possible, Buss/Kupchak should do it without thinking. Worst case scenario we have DeRozan for one year and he becomes a trade asset.

But IF we end up drafting Simmons or Ingram, and we have budding star D'Angelo (plus very serviceable players in Randle and Clarkson), then wouldn't adding a ball dominant established player like Durant or Westbrook stunt their growth a bit?

The way I see it is, the Warriors look pretty unstoppable for the next 2-3 seasons at least, right? And by then D'Angelo, Clarkson, Randle, Simmons/Ingram will be fully established as players and hopefully ready to takeover. Now, of course that means another 2-4 years at least of growing pains, but at this rate who the hell cares?

Does anyone really think adding Durant and maybe DeRozan will get us by the Warriors or even the Spurs? And let's say Curry blows his knee out or something and we actually make the Finals, do you see us beating Cleveland?

Believe me, I'm not throwing in the towel here, I just think we should be patient here. I mean regardless of what I think, Jim is gonna go gun's blazing after Durant, DeRozan, probably Whiteside and any other solid free agent, and he'll probably sign someone. But IMO it's almost a waste of money and will kinda slow down the development of our young core a bit.

Thoughts?
Agreed in the case of ,derozan

But there is little doubt that adding a star who can either dominate offensively or be a real defensive stopper would be a huge asset

And there is no assurance that the current crop will improve dramatically enough to make them a contender in the tough West
A defensive stopper would be perfect

Not a Lakers fan (was up until Orlando got a team), but I'll comment anyway.

The current team is capable of winning games yet are tanking. They need to build the roster with players other than draft picks and prospectively good players. They need an established star player or 2.
