Saw Star Wars - I'd give it between a 6.5 - 7 out of 10

To be honest, the high rotten tomatoes score made my expectations high. I didnt think the movie lived up to that.

Maybe we should have an official Star Wars thread. A sticky even.

There were lots of cool creatures on Jakku. I agree that there should have been more aliens though. Maz's bar had some good ones as well. I really liked the little guy and his creature that had captured BB-8 when Rey rescued him. That guy was cool.

I cannot explain without sullying my esteemed reputation on this forum... how apeshit crazy I was the first 10 times I saw the saloon scene in the original Star Wars.

I thought it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. "Dad, did you see Hammerhead! Did you see him! Dad! DAD!!!!"

So this is going to really expose my nerdiness but....

My little brother and I had almost every figure from the Tatooine Catina. I also found an old record my dad had that had the song that's playing in the Catina. When everyone shows up. We may have set up everything just like the movie when we were kids and played the record over and over while we were playing. Poor Walrus face got his arm cut off so many times.

Question for the board...
Not part of the catina bit... but thinking of the name "Walrus Man"...

Was anybody offended when they changed the name from "Sand People" to "Tusken Raider?"

[Note: My sister and I played Star Wars every Saturday/Sunday morning. Seemingly. Apparently, my parents tricked us into not thinking we weren't poor (or they were cheap.) We used a big blanket or two piled up in a ball as a "mountain" since we had no starships or set pieces for our guys. Somehow this entertained us for hours.]

What's your sister like(age, health, education, appearance, hobbies etc.)?

She likes to drink Starbuck's coffee.

Oops. I hope I didn't just share too much.

The schtick of saying the most absurd things possible to get reactions is already taken here, by several people unfortunately.

What schtick? He's right. The Jar Jar Binks edition had more magic than The Force Awakens.

Why would I explain that now when I've already shared my thoughts on the movie multiple times and my opinion is more or less the consensus among the movie going public anyway?

The movie going public all fell for the hype because it was a new Star Wars movie. Face it, it wasn't that great at all and it was a total rip off. So many things in that flick had been done before in Star Wars.

Figured you couldn't talk about anything good in it.

I figured your girl was a lock for any creature part after she auditioned. They could have saved time and money and just had her come to set as she looks day to day.

That's true, the movie going public always "falls for the hype" of a new Star Wars movie. You make a good point.

Star Wars is gonna get people coming regardless of hype, sure, but they HYPED THE FUCK outta this flick. And they did a good job. But the movie wasn't that good.

The Force Awakens is the Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull of Star Wars movies.

Star Wars hype always makes the general public enjoy and highly rate Star Wars movies. That's a really excellent point you're making.

The general public were duped. The reviewers? Pffft, who knows why they loved it.

So you think that The Force Awakens wasn't pretty much a carbon copy of A New Hope. Laaaaaaaaame. You watch lots of movies I'm guessing. How can you rate this movie so high? Is the franchise like family to you or something? Dude, it was a little bit of a joke of a flick. A little bit. It was entertaining to a degree, but nothing special.

Though I don't think it was anywhere near as quality of a movie, I was honestly more entertained by The Phantom Menace than The Force Awakens.

It was a new plotline....new characters....some new locations....it was more interesting to me.

As I stated before, I enjoyed TFA....but it's not some great movie. It was good.
