Ohio State WR Michael Thomas Calls Out Alabama's Schedule
Ohio State WR Michael Thomas Calls Out Alabama's Schedule
Although the Southeastern Conference has been viewed as the best league in college football for years now, the current Associated Press Top 25 suggests the conference isn't as strong as it has been in recent seasons.
And you better believe Ohio State Buckeyes receiver Michael Thomas has noticed.
Thomas and the Buckeyes were able to sneak into the inaugural College Football Playoff last year and wound up winning the national championship. Now, after a last-second loss to Michigan State two weeks ago, one-loss Ohio State needs some help to get a chance to defend its title.
Knowing his team is on the outside looking in, Thomas appears to believe the Buckeyes have a better resume than the one-loss Alabama Crimson Tide.
His argument? Alabama's strength of schedule is not that great, with the Crimson Tide beating only one ranked team this season.
If those teams were ranked at the time that's even worse so don't mention that...

Never am I a hater, salty, or whatever else y'all want to call me. It's called copy and paste. Try it it's easy...

He's got a point...With the Big Ten having 3 teams in the top 10, should Ohio State get the benefit of the doubt over a one loss Alabama?

Re: Ohio State WR Michael Thomas Calls Out Alabama's Schedule
The poll he is referencing is the AP poll from the week of November 23rd. With the most recent polls, Ole Miss is #13, LSU is #21, Tennessee is #25, and MSU is unranked.

Re: Ohio State WR Michael Thomas Calls Out Alabama's Schedule
Tennessee and LSU moved into the Top 25 just as Mississippi St was moved out.
But no team that can't even win its own division has any right to bitch about getting left out. Period.

My thoughts exactly when after GhostTown stated that. How the heck does LSU jump to 18 after beating Texas A&M?somberbostonian wrote:Tennessee and LSU moved into the Top 25 just as Mississippi St was moved out.

Up until the last 2 weeks were any of OSU's other 10 opponents ranked? You know, those dominating stalwarts from Directional Illinois, Directional Michigan, Indiana, Maryland, and Rutgers to name a few.

Re: Ohio State WR Michael Thomas Calls Out Alabama's Schedule
I agree with his point about Alabama. But they're sort of in the playoff by default at this point. Ohio State have the "best" loss of all the one-loss teams, while Oklahoma has the worst. If anything, OU shouldn't be included, and Iowa and MSU should be 3 and 4 with Ohio State waiting in the wings to squeak in.
Here's hoping UNC and Florida can pull upsets this week and shake up the whole thing (ain't happening, but a man can dream, can't he?)

That would be amazingly awesome, but Florida looks absolutely terrible right now.americaninfidel wrote:I agree with his point about Alabama. Re: Ohio State WR Michael Thomas Calls Out Alabama's Schedule
Yeah, I'd say the former is a lot more likely than the latter, but hope abides. The Gators may be able to hold Bama from scoring a ton, but the problem is their offense stinks. If they couldn't score on FSU, there's not much reason to think they'll do it on Bama.Ghostown42 wrote:That would be amazingly awesome, but Florida looks absolutely terrible right now.americaninfidel wrote:I agree with his point about Alabama. Re: Ohio State WR Michael Thomas Calls Out Alabama's Schedule
Iowa's schedule is more pathetic than even Ohio State's. The most difficult team Iowa has faced all season is Northwestern, who also did not have to face Ohio State or Michigan State this year, and that win against Stanford...please. No way Northwestern come within 14 points of Stanford if they played this weekend.
Remember, a 6-6 Tennessee team defeated Iowa 45-28 in a bowl game last year. And UT was up 42-7 on Iowa in that game after 3 quarters before putting in 2nd and 3rd stringers. That Tennessee team is much improved this year from last year, despite being decimated by injuries early in this season. I wouldn't doubt Tennessee would defeat Iowa in a similar fashion this year. Tennessee did have leads against Oklahoma and Alabama in the 4th quarter this year, but lack of defensive depth really cost them in those games.
If Iowa defeats Michigan State, I would have no problem with them going to the playoff. After all, no matter how easy your schedule is, it's hard to go 12-0, and beating a top tier team like Michigan State is impressive and worthy of reward. I do think Michigan State is going to beat Iowa solidly, though.

Well, that's just it, isn't it? Everything else is simply rhetoric. Fortunately, Iowa faces a legit test this week to squash any controversy over their selection.

So hol'up..If you conjure up your own thought or premise that can make a decent case to a wrongful exclusion into the tourney = Salty hater.
If you piggyback somebody else's research in full emphatic agreement and pass it on to hundreds of thousands of your followers for the nation to see = Not a salty hater.
Well fuck me, you learn something new everyday.

You wouldn't be going up against an inept QB every other drive so I guarantee you that wouldn't happen.Ghostown42 wrote:Iowa's schedule is more pathetic than even Ohio State's. Too bad we won't find out, unless Iowa drops all the way to the Outback bowl, or something...very unlikely.gaskill15 wrote:You wouldn't be going up against an inept QB every other drive so I guarantee you that wouldn't happen.Ghostown42 wrote:Iowa's schedule is more pathetic than even Ohio State's. And the QB didn't give up 42 points through 3 quarters.
