Tony Parker has more hardware than anyone on that list, beating Worthy by a ring. He gets my vote.

I'll go with Parker. He's got more rings & more all-league teams than Worthy.

Worthy should be next though. Very similar accolades, just feel like Parker had more responsibility QBing his teams.

I'm not understanding Worthy over Ray Allen at all. A FMVP and 1 more ring shouldn't be that heavy of a factor...

To be honest, I don't understand Allen over either Worthy or Parker. Both have more hardware, and both at least one time were important enough to the team success to garner FMVP. Allen is a great role player, but he's never been more than that, at least not on a championship team.

Worthy's rings, particularly the last two once Kareem was on the downside, carry a lot more weight than Ray's.

All of that is based on circumstances though.

Ray Allen was a more productive player and superior shooter that just happened to not be fortunate enough to play with really good teams until Boston. Worthy got to play with the #3 guy and #6 guy on this list and Parker the #2 guy on this list.

That's how I see it....but that's just me.

If there is any question about my thoughts on James Worthy, let me clear it up.

James Worthy played his role very well. In his earlier years, he was a great outlet scorer in the Showtime Offense. As time went on, he became a better midrange shooter and had that nice baseline spin move in the post.

However, to be 6'9, he wasn't a great rebounder. To be pretty athletic, he wasn't anything better than average at best defensively. He scored at pretty decent clip over his career but had below average shooting range. His FG% plummeted after having to be the main guy. He ended up out of the league by age 32, mainly due to injury.

I can't think of a guy on this list whose career accomplishments are so tied into his circumstances rather than him being that special talent that was able to create a winning environment.

Thanks for the comments. The flip side is, give him credit for fitting his game into the team that drafted him, to maximize team success.

And the sample size for measuring him as a lead dog was very small, by the time he got the chance he had a lot of mileage, and like you even said, had injuries to deal with. If you are going to factor in circumstances, at least factor them in consistently (applying them to the good and the bad).
