We now have 4 of the 80's Celtics on this list before Worthy is even nominated.
My work here is done.

Oh, and I'll go with Steph Curry here.
MVP on a championship team. We voted on Bill Walton with a similar standard. Parker, Allen and Miller are going to be a good battle next round.

DJ was more for his Sonics resume. Are you still upset that post merger Kareem is 6th?Robceltsfan wrote:We now have 4 of the 80's Celtics on this list before Worthy is even nominated.

Yes. But I'll take this as a consolation.Odogg wrote:DJ was more for his Sonics resume. Are you still upset that post merger Kareem is 6th?Robceltsfan wrote:We now have 4 of the 80's Celtics on this list before Worthy is even nominated.

I will go with Curry
Re: 2015 Anger General Greatest post-merger Players of All Time #40
Reggie, Ray or Stephen for me. Curry's individual peak is higher than the other two but his body of work doesn't hold up.

Steph.
Resume may be short, but his peak ability dwarfs the other two. He's a legitimate build a team around lead dog. The others are 'pretend'.

After pushing so vehemently for Bill......you damn well better be voting for Steph at this stage.vcsgrizzfan wrote:Steph.

True. But I think what Bill did with what he had to work with in Portland was a fair bit more impressive than what Steph did in GSW. Bill's peak is criminally underrated.Robceltsfan wrote:After pushing so vehemently for Bill......you damn well better be voting for Steph at this stage.vcsgrizzfan wrote:Steph.

Which is why Steph is quite a few spots behind Bill on this list. It's hard to compare the 16 year careers with partially finished or early interrupted careers.vcsgrizzfan wrote:True. That's one of the reasons I have a hard time picking Curry here cause of his really small sample size however he's improved every year and is putting up better numbers than Ray however Ray played much longer. Due to that I still think I'm gonna have to go with Curry this round.Robceltsfan wrote:Which is why Steph is quite a few spots behind Bill on this list. Re: 2015 Anger General Greatest post-merger Players of All Time #40
I would argue that the impact of Curry's shooting abilities is actually still being underestimated by most fans, in terms of how it impact the Warriors's offense (and therefore odds of winning).
I bet that if you looked at +/ material related to offense for Curry this past year, his numbers would be stupifying.
I think sometimes it's easier to play the "look beyond the numbers" card when a player is effective in a way that breaks the traditional mold in some way. For example, Walton being an amazingly good passer while not exactly being an explosive and overwhelming scorer.
Relatedly, I think fans play the card less when a player does something traditionally associated with stardom...but in a way that exceeds even the traditional star performance, even if it still contains some more subtle aspects---like floor spacing benefits).

I've looked at Curry's +/- from this past year and it is quite good.Bush4Ever wrote:I would argue that the impact of Curry's shooting abilities is actually still being underestimated by most fans, in terms of how it impact the Warriors's offense (and therefore odds of winning).

Curry (2014-15): O Rat. +17.8
Lebron (14-15): +16.8
Lebron (08-09): +21.2
Shaq (00-01): +15.6
Duncan (04-05): +17.7
Kobe (09-10): +12.4 (best season I could find for him....yikes)
