Fear The Walking Dead...
I know. I know... stupid television. But what does that say about us?
I've watched two episodes now and all I can keep thinking is "Why are they doing that... why aren't doing that?" So many issues... yet I keep watching. Because I'm a sucker.

Is the show any good? I was digging on the original WD, but my interest is beginning to wane as it's the same thing season in and season out.

Fine line with the genre blindness angle. I get its purpose.
That's what we have to assume, right, because it's a lot easier to say "stay away from him because he's a zombie" instead of "don't do that, just stay where you are, you have to believe me, I'll tell you more when I get there." But doesn't that inherently detract from the most frightening part of the show, "what would you do?" But that's neither here nor there... that's not my complaint.
It may simply be bad writing. For example, SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER... the boyfriend is super sick and there's a huge bite out of his shoulder. The girlfriend doesn't know what's going on yet, but she doesn't ask "Hey boyfriend, that's kinda weird, what took a bite out of your shoulder?"
Or, the mom tells here daughter to get away from that guy who seems aware and cognizant... but she moves toward the principal who is no signs of either. Meh. Suspension of disbelief... I get it. I've done it before in approximately 32,450 other shows. And it sets us up to understand the situation more fully for the future... they can't be reasoned with, bites kill them, "zombies", et al.
[Note: I didn't know if I liked Kim Dickens or disliked her as an actress. I think I'm decidedly in the pro Dickens camp. ... ummm... that was almost pretty awkward.]

The video game "the last of us" still had better story and writing than either of the walking dead shows. I almost wish they licensed some of the ideas for this new series. Have a 12 girl get bit, and not die or turn into a zombie, and then a mission to get her somewhere to figure out why she's the only person immune.
Those are video games I think I would enjoy. Don't have a system though... and that's by design. I waste enough of my time as is. I think I would waste even more...

Thanks for the feedback boys, sounds like I'm not missing anything.

Kinda spoiler alert for falling skies
Semi related but is there anything worse then a finale where the final battle is done almost instantly? The season finale of falling skies was last night and after 5 years of building up, the "final battle" wasn't actually even shown. After all this build up of hearing about the queen and the 2nd mass and all the mason militias march on Washington, the queen got killed by a single person after maybe a minute of screen time. I wanted to see an epic final clash, the likes of ROTK or batman and jokers final battle, instead the final battle consisted of one guy throwing a glowing orb and everyone dying. I don't think I'll watch another show whose writer is also the lead actor

I actually quit during season 2 as well but decided to give them a shot since it was the last season, definitely not worth it hahaShill Jackson wrote:Yeah, I gave up about midway through season 2. Fear of TWD looks like that it's finally starting to pick up some steam. Hope episodes 3-6 can help the season finish strong.

Re: Fear The Walking Dead...
AMC should cancel The Walking Dead and re-write/re-shoot the series, branching off Fear The Walking Dead.
FTWD features superior acting, story, cinematography, capturing a constant feared and tense atmosphere throughout. The story is more focused, unlike TWD's 20+ different characters to follow and be sidetracked with.
There's the instant cult classic moments and zombies , such as Obama the school Principal (during a U.S. collapse).
There are only 2 TWD episodes that truly captured a zombie apocalypse atmosphere, EPs 1 and 2. Once all that soap opera bullshit took over, TWD has been a hit or miss show, it's cheesy compared to FTWD

Re: Fear The Walking Dead...
What exactly is fear the walking dead? is it just new characters in the same universe, like amc pushed the rest button, or are the story lines somehow interwoven or is it a completely different kind of zombie infection?

Re: Fear The Walking Dead...
It's the same story, but it begins as the illness/virus/infection is first beginning to spread and society has yet to collapse. There are vague rumors of odd things connected to the illness, but nothing concrete initially. Also, it takes place in California, so there's no interaction with TWD storyline (at least not yet.)wailuaFC wrote:What exactly is fear the walking dead? is it just new characters in the same universe, like amc pushed the rest button, or are the story lines somehow interwoven or is it a completely different kind of zombie infection?
Fear is the mind killer. We are not afraid.
Re: Fear The Walking Dead...
Ok cool, the walking dead didn't cover any of that so the writers should have quite a bit to go with. Definitely will check it out, thanksMadnessssss wrote:Same universe, different characters, sort of a prequel but it could potentially catch up. Takes place at the very beginning of the infections, and centers around a somewhat dysfunctional family in Los Angeles.wailuaFC wrote:What exactly is fear the walking dead? is it just new characters in the same universe, like amc pushed the rest button, or are the story lines somehow interwoven or is it a completely different kind of zombie infection?

Wesley Pipes should do a Blade series on HBO.Madnessssss wrote:Walking Dead might be the biggest gold mine TV show in history. It's getting basic cable ratings/ad revenue plus that cable subscriber money, it can go on just about forever, and they can do as many spin offs as they want based on different locations. Could have a New York version next year for example. They also don't have to pay the actors much. They can just kill them off.wailuaFC wrote:Ok cool, the walking dead didn't cover any of that so the writers should have quite a bit to go with. Unless everyone gets sick of zombies like we did vampires a few years ago. But i think it has plenty left in the tank. Vampires got ruined because all the content became soapy and cheesy.
