Pippen should win in a rout for #18.

Stockton vs. Isiah should be an interesting debate for the board.

Pippen was a great perimeter defender, but the notion that his defensive impact was anywhere close to Russell's is absurd.

Russell joined a poor defensive team that had been in the lower half of league rankings for defensive rating each of the prior 5 seasons.

During his tenure in Boston, they routinely finished first in defensive ratings and were never worse than second. That's right - always first or second all 13 seasons.

The year after he retired as champion in 1969, the Celtics gave up more than 10 more points a game and went to the lottery.

Russell was extremely long, unbelievably athletic but also ridiculously quick. He had extremely quick feet and hands, could run the court faster than virtually all guards and blocked or altered an amount of shots that most here couldn't fathom.

He could also score more when required, as evidenced by his 30 point, 40 rebound game 7 in 1962, the first of the great Lakers / Celtics playoffs series.

They lost Sam Jones also. But more on your excellent post:

Tommy Heinsohn knew that they couldn't run the same defensive system after Russ retired so he tried a different philosophy. It totally bombed. That's just how big of an impact on the entire team and franchise that Russell had.

I had a hard time debating between Drexler, Nash, and Ewing.

I've often felt like Ewing gets overrated and Drexler gets underrated, in large part because of their different relationships to Jordan as a player.

Drexler was in some ways considered a poor man's Jordan for a long time, which makes it difficult for a lot of people to look at him in isolation. On the flip side, I feel like Ewing gets a bit more credit than he deserves individually for the Knicks hanging around against the bulls longer than most other teams.

I feel like Nash is very deserving. 2 MVPs, amazing shooting, and gaudy stats bring him up to this point, while lack of overall team success keeps him from going higher.

That's why I picked Drexler and Nash for the next round.

"Robin" averaged 22/9/7/48% in the 91-92-93 Finals, along with all-time great Defense.. those numbers are better than Kobe and LeBron's first 3 Finals, FWIW.
Pipped aslo played in the weakest era of basketball. Paul George is better than Pippen. Don't even get started on overrated MJ.

Nash and Ewing. Just not Iverson. That would be absurd this early.

Iverson was a better talent than Nash (actually a better talent than most) but he wasn't a "good basketball player". He was a somewhat talented scorer, a gambler on defense, and he iced out teammates worse than Melo or Kobe.

You think you can argue that? Iverson was easily a more talented player than Nash. Nash however was smarter and made himself a better basketball player. I guess I worded that first post poorly.

I repeated literally what you wrote.

I guess being a dumbass is a strong suit for you and writing isn't. Read your last sentence, retard.
So you got me calling Iverson more talented as "Iverson is better than Nash, Nash is better than Iverson"? lol, wow you are one dumb fuck.

Id vote for Chris Paul over Iverson. Iverson was an extremely talented bad basketball player. Very similar to Melo.
So would I.
