She thinks that rings are their only reason for where they place players on the GOAT list. :L
when you say Chris Paul is better than Magic Johnson then you really have a hard time grasping the history of the NBA.

Do you remember the interview with Chris Myers in the mid-90s where he was proclaiming that he'd average 70 points if he were to play in the 90s?

Youtube only has part of the interview. I wish that I could find the whole segment.

Are you laughing because he would have averaged more?

Because Lebron has Kareem pretty much beat in everything except ring count. It's not like Kareem single-handedly won those titles either. He played on some historic teams and had a guy called Magic Johnson co-leading those teams. So in order to justify Kareem over Lebron you need to place a HUGE emphasis over rings. To the point it overshadows individual performance. And if they do care that much about team accomplishments then there's no reason why Russell shouldn't be number one considering what a huge gap there is in ring count. The ring count between Russell and Jordan is greater than Lebron and post-merger Kareem so it would only make sens no?

I said Chris Paul's 2008 season was better than any of Magic Johnson's when you account for pace and quality of teammates. Your dumbass should learn to understand what I'm arguing before you talk out of your ass.

I have to run in a few mins but let me say this: I don't think that you are wrong on this note. You will just have to present Lebron's case further because he just entered the discussion.

Kareem from 1977-89 vs Lebron James's career:

5× NBA champion (1980, 1982, 1985, 1987–1988) vs 2× NBA champion (2012–2013) Edge: Kareem
1× NBA Finals MVP (1985) vs 2x Finals MVP (2012-2013) Edge: Lebron
2× NBA Most Valuable Player (1977, 1980) vs 4× NBA Most Valuable Player (2009–2010, 2012–2013) Edge: Lebron
12× NBA All-Star (1977, 1979–1989) vs 11× NBA All-Star (2005–2015) Edge: Kareem
5× All-NBA First Team (1977, 1980–1981, 1984, 1986) vs 9× All-NBA First Team (2006, 2008–2015) Edge: Lebron
4× All-NBA Second Team (1978–1979, 1983, 1985) vs 2× All-NBA Second Team (2005, 2007) Note: there's no point in arguing 2nd Teams so let's just combine the All NBA selections. Lebron has the edge there.
3× NBA All-Defensive First Team (1979–1981) and 3× NBA All-Defensive Second Team (1977–1978, 1984) vs 5× NBA All-Defensive First Team (2009–2013) and NBA All-Defensive Second Team (2014) Edge: Lebron. They both have the same amount of defensive teams but Lebron made the 1st team more than Kareem did.
2× NBA blocks leader (1979–1980) vs Rookie of the Year and 2008 scoring title Edge: Lebron

1011 games

9021/15792 fg = 58% FG
3858/5188 ft = 74%
21901 pts = 21.7 ppg
8896 rbs = 8.8 rpg
3239 ast = 3.2 apg
2356 blk = 2.3 bpg

vs

911 games

8950/18043 = .496 FG%
5757/7730 = .745 FT%
24913 Points = 27 PPG
6502 Rebounds = 7 RPG
6301 Assists = 7 APG

So Lebron has the edge in personal hardware and has VASTLY outplayed Kareem yet Kareem is running away with it because "he's old and everyone said he was good?"

Are those rings Magic's, or Kareem's???

Still about 4 spots too early for Kareem....maybe 5.

I'll take Lebron this round. He destroys Kareem statistically, has more personal hardware, and didn't have a top 5 all-time great adding to his ring count in the twilight of his career.
Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are dumber than that.

I posted a solid 7-year peak comparison between these folks last round. Lebron was VASTLY ahead of everyone statistically, and has more MVPs and more FMVPs than Kareem in the timelines being compared.

I know it feels weird dropping KAJ to 9 or 10 in a ranking, but that's what happens when you eliminate the prime of a player's career.

We get it. You're voting for Lebron over Kareem.

Since when is a 7-year peak the be-all-end-all?

Why not 5 years? 10 years?

:L

Also, Lebron plays in the easiest era (by far) relative to the other players in contention, so that explains his regular season hardware.

Case in point, if prime Dream or prime Shaq played today they too would own a boatload of MVP's.

Because 7 good years was about all Kareem had post-merger...but as usual all you can do is think about how much Lebron has ruined you as you whine and moan about how weak you think this era is. I did 7 years to HELP Kareem's case.....and it didn't.

Feel free to vote for whomever you like, but Kareem continues to remain the wrong choice this early in the ranking.

Kareem is going to win because "he's old, nostalgia and because my dad said he was good."
