Cops Tested vs Tests for Assault weapons

Everyone wants all these tests and backgrounds, exams whatever to make sure people are sane to be able to buy guns. What about Police Officers? It seems we have more nuts with power trips going on with police officers too. Not sure what they all have to pass to get their jobs but I think they need to go through as much as any individual purchasing a gun.

Most PDs have background checks and screening that are significantly more extensive than all but the most strict anti-gun states.

The problem is that after they pass through these reasonable filters, they are given a (virtual) monopoly on the enforcement of the law, legalized use of aggression, etc...along with burdens most normal people don't face....along with virtually no check on misuse of aggression outside the absolute and most obvious cases of abuse (i.e. - if it's anything even close to a grey area, the default is automatically set to "cops right, cops good" w/ respect to the parties who have the abilities to direct punish cops).

Combine those issues and you have a fairly combustible situation.

an AR, AK, etc. Semi automatic with magazines that carry large capacity is what I consider an assault weapon. Pistols are not assault weapons. A deer rifle bolt action or even 5 round semi automatic rifle is not an assault weapon.

I used to screen applications for positions. One of the questions we asked on every job is if the person has ever been convicted of any crime. Normally I would see one or 2 yes for every 5-10 jobs. The most "yes's" I ever saw was for a police officer position. I never understood that. Almost 20% of the applicants for the police officer position had previous criminal convictions.

I think part of that reason is because the applicant knows without a shadow of a doubt that a background check is going to be done. Many others lie about it in other jobs.
