And if Bird's 2nd team appearance isn't worthy, we'll only count seasons where the players were 1st-team All-NBA.
Magic 9
Bird 9
Now it's a fair bet.

Now it's a fair bet.
Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are dumber than that.

Nope. Coupled with those extra 9 games (which came when Magic returned as a ground-bound round mound of goo as a no-defense-playing PF)... Magic definitely destroys him in longevity.

I'd vote for Bird, but he's not a nominee.Robceltsfan wrote:ripper76 wrote:Magic

The #s were pretty much there but he wasn't the same. He didn't quite have the same impact as he did before 1989.AbeVigodaLive wrote:y2ktors wrote:Bird's top years are 80-88. That's 9 seasons vs 11. I left out 1990 as I don't consider that to be a superstar season by Bird standards.AbeVigodaLive wrote:
So, 11 superstar years vs. 10.5?
Really?
Even then 11 vs 9 is not a huge gap but it can become more of a focus when the quantity of seasons played is lacking.
24 / 10 / 8 / 47% in 1990.
24 / 10 / 6 / 50% for his career.
What?
What?
WHAT???
but also keep in mind that his career #s from 80-88 were better than that 1990 season. Compare those.
***Remember, not by Bird's standards. It isn't too say that 1990 wasn't a great season because it was.

Fair enough. Please remove Magic's rookie campaign since I don't think it compares favorably to his other seasons. Still a great season though.
Thanks.

Which again....leaves us at a 9v9 comparison. With Bird's peak being better.AbeVigodaLive wrote:y2ktors wrote:The #s were pretty much there but he wasn't the same. He didn't quite have the same impact as he did before 1989.AbeVigodaLive wrote:

Let us strip that championship as well and give it to the most worthy candidate.AbeVigodaLive wrote:y2ktors wrote:The #s were pretty much there but he wasn't the same. He didn't quite have the same impact as he did before 1989.AbeVigodaLive wrote:

His name is now alongside greats like Kahwi Leonard and Andre Igoudala.y2ktors wrote:And that FMVP that he received.PhutureDynasty wrote:Let us strip that championship as well and give it to the most worthy candidate.AbeVigodaLive wrote:

It is really beneficial to your team's chances when they have the MVP and a top 3 all-time player like Kareem playing for you.

Wait... we went from discussing seasons to ONE game just to suit your argument now?
Stop.

It sure is Beneficial. But it is what it is. Boston having a starting 5 of future HOFers was beneficial just as Jordan having Pip to form a potent perimeter duo was beneficial.Robceltsfan wrote:His name is now alongside greats like Kahwi Leonard and Andre Igoudala.y2ktors wrote:And that FMVP that he received.PhutureDynasty wrote: Let us strip that championship as well and give it to the most worthy candidate.

Actually PhutureDynasty brought it up. But why should we disregard Magic's rookie year when he obviously had a great impact on his team's success, including winning FMVP?AbeVigodaLive wrote:y2ktors wrote:And that FMVP that he received.PhutureDynasty wrote: Let us strip that championship as well and give it to the most worthy candidate.

Bird, in 1990 was on the court when his team blew a 2-0 lead in route to losing to a #7 seed in embarrassing fashion.

I did bring it up in obvious satire fashion because it would mean the Sixers get another championship.
Pretty sure Y2K recognized this and played along.
Didn't think it would be construed any other way.

And one could argue that Magic was THE reason his team lost the 1984 Finals with his colossal choke job. And let's not forget he was on the floor when an overmatched Houston team destroyed the Lakers. Magic let Robert Reid beat him?
You're being disingenuous in this thread. It's obvious for everyone.
Re: 2015 Anger General Greatest post-merger Players of All Time
Wait, why would someone switch their Bird/Magic vote from the original time we did this list?
There isn't any merger action to disrupt that ranking or any new information is there?

Taking a break from the board. Please reference my last post for more details if you are interested.

I simply disliked the exclusion of Bird with the inclusion of Magic.....and Kareem GETTING VOTES in this #1 poll is either a troll....or people not putting any thought into what they're actually doing.
