I used to live here, but not this specific apartment. Two blocks from where they taped The Daily Show. http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/444-W ... 6880_zpid/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

How is living in NYC appealing unless you have tons of money to blow? Live in a 500sqft apartment, take public transportation, over crowded, just terrible. Nightlife is good, but that's about it.

Living in NYC is super overrated. I was born and raised there, but realized how ridiculous it was living there when I was going out on my own. I paid less for my 2 family house in NJ than some of these tuna can coop apts (not even a condo) cost.

I'd probably live in one of the outer boroughs or suburbs with access to a train that goes into the city. Manhattan is a clusterfuck unless you're some exec or trust-fund douchebag hipster with cash to burn.

Its about being outside your apartment...just like in tokyo where people just have a large drawer to sleep in sometimes..rest of the time you are out on the streets...
I get it..been there and theres so much to do that you barely even need more than amace to sleep shower and shit

Yeah, I'd rather live in a house.

It's really beneficial if your career involves anything media/entertainment/corporate related. Other than that I never really understood someone living in NYC because they simply wanted to be a waiter at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co in Times Square.

In order to be living in Manhattan on a waiter's salary, you've either got to be living six to a room, or getting a ton of financial assistance from mommy and daddy along the way.

Depends where you are waiting I suppose. I've heard of servers at high end restaurants bringing in 100k+ a year easily.

Very true. Many of my friends and other colleagues I know there have mom/dad as a guarantor. I had to my first year there before I was able to get on my feet.
