I don't understand how a guy who basically came off the street and hit .202 with 3 HRs, 51 RBIs and 30 stolen bases.

There are guys who don't do that in the MLB and definitely not in the minors.

LOL@ fail in baseball, many players wish they had stats like that especially with no real experience on the pro level. Haterz!!!

Hitting .202 is fully acceptable.........if you're popping off 40 HRs a year. Jordan was really bad. Batting .202 in Double-A is nothing to write home about.
Even for a guy who never had any pro experience? How many guys can hit .202 without experience? Again I bet you can go thru experienced players in double A who won't have the numbers that MJ put up.

MJ got at bats for 51 RBI's because his presence put butts in the seats. If he wasn't MJ, he would never have seen the playing time he got.

Batting .202 gets you sent back to rookie league......or sent home period. Stop kidding yourself.

So hitting .202 isn't good for someone without experience at the Double A level?

Jordan was 31 in the prime of his athletic career and could only muster up a paltry .556 OPS in AA ball. He was just such an arrogant dick he thought he was good enough to play any sport and dominate, turned out he was an absolutely horrible baseball player and made a fool of himself.

Again, How many guys can put up those numbers at the Double A level with no experience?

What do you mean "no experience"?? The guy was a world class athlete and he grew up playing baseball. It wasn't like he picked up a tennis racquet for the first time in his life and then started beating pros. He did "OK" for being a novice with no prior pro experience. He would have been unceremoniously let go if he wasn't Michael Jordan.

Being a coach or GM, I would take a chance at a guy who can come off the street with no experience (Did you say he grew up playing baseball? :L ) and give me .202, 3 HRs, 51RBIs and 30 SBs. I would definitely give him another year or 2 in the minors. With some training, more practice and experience, that player could possibly put up some good numbers. At the least he could be a good base stealing threat.

How many "world class athlete's" without prior pro experience can put up those numbers? even if they grew up playing baseball.

Some of you try to sound smart but really come off as blinded haterz or worse really ignorant.

"some players wish they could hit .200, 3 home runs and 51 rbi in double A"

and I'm called the troll for not agreeing with this statement.

No I like all sports. I just can't understand how someone is kicking it about baseball but doesn't think that a player with no experience (notice I keep saying "a player", so stop slobbering my nuts as usual) putting up the numbers MJ did is somewhat pretty good.

Oh!!! but Rob thinks experience is based off "he played the sport growing up" Lol!!!

That is some lame shit right there.

You know your life is trash when you feel the need to prop up Jordan's baseball career to hang onto the nostalgia of his greatness.

Oh MJ was in the top 5 on the team in RBIs and was 2nd in SBs. The high HR total on the team was 7.

If I were a GM, I would definitely use a minor contract on a guy like that regardless of the name.

After not picking up a bat or ball for like 15 years, then jump straight into AA (Where ALL the top talent not in the MLB resides....then AND now....AAA is mostly washouts, AAAA players or MLB players rehabbing, most elite prospects spend very little time in AAA) those numbers were EXTREMELY impressive actually... Anyone arguing to the contrary given the context simply has no clue what they are talking about. He then played in the Arizona fall league, against the top prospects from each organization and his #'s were significantly better with just the miniscule experience he gained in AA.

No big dummy. I saying this for any player that put up those numbers without experience on that level.

It's more of an unbiased look at the numbers and situation in evaluating a player in baseball. So many people say that MJ failed but looking at the whole picture, he wasn't all that bad.

A player like that would be worth a roster spot especially at the minors level. A GM would be a fool not to give a player a chance who put up those type of numbers with limited experience especially at the minors level where he can get some help and focus on his game.
