I'd go Russ, but sub Wilt in for Chuck and those are my top 4. In terms of defensive rebounding, HM Walton.thedangerouskitchen wrote:Russell

With all due respect to the other candidates, it has to be Dennis "The Menace".
The guy was 6'8 and barely 210 pounds yet he banged every night with the trees and dealt with numerous off-the-court distractions to grab near 20 boards a night!
Russell has the more gaudier averages, but boards were more available back in those days.

Pretty sure he is closer to 6'6''.dwcmwa wrote:With all due respect to the other candidates, it has to be Dennis "The Menace".

Rodman was a cross-dressing fag who dominated a weak era.

No surprise Rodman and Russ are the two guys mentioned most so far...
What about Barkley, who averaged double-digit Rebounds for 15(!!) straight years and was only about 6'4...?

good point...people underestimate Chuck, and have for some time...it's always Rodman/Russell/Wilt for the most part...and Chuck did this in a much more loaded up talent era where centers were prevalent..can't imagine what he'd pull in this less than era...Ben Wallace had his time too...

Rodman got most of his rebounds through intimidation and getting inside opponents heads. Barkley at whatever height he was listed grabbed double-figure rebounds for 15 straight years. Rodman couldn't do that, neither could Hakeem, Ewing, and all the other great bigs of his time. Paul Silas & Wes Unseld are others that come to mind. Both guys were barely 6'7" tall, but Barkley was shorter. Buck Williams is someone else who's also extremely underrated.

Rodman. But Fat Lever is close.
Listed at only 6'3" and 170 pounds... the perennial triple double threat averaged 9.3 rebounds in back to back seasons. And, more than 8 rebounds for a 4-year stretch.

The players in that era would dominate today and half or 3/4ths of today's NBA players wouldn't even play or make a squad back in Rodman's era.zombiesonics wrote:Rodman was a cross-dressing fag who dominated a weak era.

Maybe not 75% of the league, but a good chunk of those 7th to 12th men riding the pine today would all be unemployed had they played in the 80s-90s. You figure there's roughly 100+ more players in the league now than back then. Some tomato cans like Hasheem Thabeet (who got demoted twice) sure as hell wouldn't get that many chances to play back then.WiseGuy wrote:Smelters wrote:The players in that era would dominate today and half or 3/4ths of today's NBA players wouldn't even play or make a squad back in Rodman's era.zombiesonics wrote:Rodman was a cross-dressing fag who dominated a weak era.
