Agreed...

You can get to the Finals with a great "team", but only the greatest OF the greatest get-it-done for their team once they get to the big dance.

Jordan's teams got there 6 times and MJ got it done all 6 times... in record-breaking, iconic fashion.

Kobe is 2 for 7 and LeBron 2 for 4... and the two of them combined have put up four -4- of the worst Finals performances of all time.

So again this begs the question: If LeBron is one-third to the summit, how far up is Kobe?

What?

Kobe: 2 Finals MVP's / 7 Finals appearances

LeEasyWayOut: 2 Finals MVP's / 4 Finals appearances

The GOAT: 6 Finals MVP's / 6 Finals appearances

TDK spent years yammering about Kobe not even being on Lebron level but has 180'd his stance after Lebron started winning titles. Weird

old man oscar was in the midst of a steady decline... three years away from retirement when kareem carried him and the bucks to the lone bright spot in that franchises otherwise poor existence.

kareem then lead the lakers until mid decade when magic took over. now, i assume you think the lakers would have missed 26/16/3.7 along with kareems' defensive skill during magics' rookie year and most likely wouldnt have won a ring that year.

no one wins alone but the legacies of some are oddly tied to one player with nothing but miserable failure without said player.

kareem doesnt have that problem, lol.

Town you really need to quit trying so hard when debating against MJ. You will lose cause you have no facts that prove he isn't the GOAT

...and it's not like Jabbar was playing with a bunch of tomato cans on those (pre Magic) Lakers. His teammates (from 1976-79) included future HOFERS and All Stars like Norm Nixon, Gail Goodrich, Adrian Dantley and Jamaal Wilkes, yet he couldn't get out of the WC until Magic came along.

i understand why you'd think posting simple facts combined with common sense is taxing but for myself and several on this board it's quite easy.

you dont have to like reality but you must accept it at some point. jordan got close and being top five is quite prestigious.

unlike jordan, kareem already had a ring with a different team and got five more in the 80s. you know the highly competitive decade where jordans' best playoff game came during a loss in a series that they were being swept out of the playoffs by the bird lead celtics. i'm sure remember those three straight years of first round exits including 2 straight sweeps out of the post season by the celtics, then on to three straight years of getting dismissed by the pistons. that must have been a rough decade for jordan.

then to only make 6 finals in a decade where the best scorer was on the lone great team of that decade is pretty bad. kareem spent half of his long career in the finals. 10 finals appearances in total with a stretch of four in a row in there... that's what the best of all time was able to accomplish.

jordans' meager six finals appearances in comparison is an indictment on baldies legacy and a source of tears for you.

so you dont know what the word "decline" means?

going from 31 ppg and averaging a triple double to 19 ppg with stats trending downward every year in between outside of one year isnt a decline? kareem also carried oscar to another finals appearance where oscar averaged 12.7 per game.

you really are a moron arent you?

Listen cupcake... you know damn well you were attempting to diminish Oscar's role on that Championship team, and don't think we're not not wise to your stupidity.

Jabbar played alongside STACKED talent on those 78 and 79 Lakers... and he couldn't do squat. Jordan played alongside coke-heads and bench scrubs his first few years in the league.

Clearly the facts have you terribly shook.

How so...?

I happen to think (only) 2 Finals MVP's in 7 Finals' appearances isn't all that great for a guy supposed in the GOAT discussion... that's why Kobe doesn't crack my Top 10.

So what on earth makes you think I'm propping him up?

look here blanche, i said he was declining which he CLEARLY was... not that he was a liability. telling the truth is not diminishing anything unless you're an idiot. just accept that jordan is behind kareem and will be forever in bball. jordan can always take that he is the more popular player.

No, you look here cupcake... here's what you said:

"old man oscar was in the midst of a steady decline... three years away from retirement when kareem carried him and the bucks to the lone bright spot in that franchises otherwise poor existence."

Yeah... you weren't trying to diminish Oscar's Value / production in that (futile) attempt to elevate Jabbar.

Also, the Bucks went to the Finals in Oscar's last season (losing to the Lakers in 7)... the following year the Jabbar-led / Robertson-less Bucks became a lottery team.

Few questions TDK:

-Where does Lebron rank in your top 10 (assuming you have him there?)
-Do you dislike Lebron as a player or just his fanbase?
-Would you rather have Lebron or Kobe if you had to draft either one of them as a rookie?
Come at the King, you best not miss.

whoops, missed this bullshit.

what's the problem? you cant win every year but he won before the time you are talking about going one for two in the finals and then went on to dominate the best era to date. the same era jordan couldnt do jack shit in but be bitch slapped by birds second rate ass.

it's not like they missed the playoffs or something... like jordan in dc, lol.

I don't have LeBron in my Top 10, not yet anyway... and I lost respect for the way he handled The Decision, and for taking the easy way out to Miami, and for the way he constantly cries and whines even though he's the most coddled / pampered player in the game today. Rookie LeBron was further along in his development than rookie Kobe, so the answer to that question is obvious. Kobe should have gone to college for at least 2 years... he might have been a legit GOAT caliber player if he did.
