Is 8 years a long time? It seems when you get older, time does fly much faster than when you were a kid. 8 years to me now seems like nothing. I can't make many distinctions between 2006 to 2014. But 1988 to 1996 seems centuries apart. Even in pop culture, there's a vast difference between the 3 years that separate 1987 and 1990. The 5 years between 1992 and 1997, the 6 years between 1985-1991, etc. you get the drift. 8 years back then was the difference between being a 4th grade peon, to a 12th grade valedictorian.

These days, 8 years is a blur. It's 1 president's stay in office. It's Andrew Bynum's career. It's a blink of an eye, 8 years, done.
