So one person died at the Purdue shooting today. Just ONE
Yet this picture is all over the interwebs now.
Re: So one person died at the Purdue shooting today. Just ON
People just love to tell the world how much they really care. Manufactured tragedy and phoney outrage mesh well with that.
Silly things like that make people feel better about not doing anything constructive or positive about real problems.

Yeah, because murder isn't a real problem. "A shooting? Someone's dead? Who cares? It's not me." Maybe instead they should just show arrogance and selfishness like you.ripper76 wrote:People just love to tell the world how much they really care. 14,827 people were murdered last year in the United States. How many of them made national news?Ghostown42 wrote:Yeah, because murder isn't a real problem. "A shooting? Someone's dead? Who cares? A picture of a ribbon with Purdue's logo on it is an agenda? And because you don't like said agenda, that makes it okay for you to trivialize this death? Tell his parents this murder is "manufactured tragedy." Tell them that this murder is just a "silly thing." Yeah, I'm sure the victim's family is all behind some kinda of agenda against guns and allowed their kid to get murdered. You are sick.ripper76 wrote:14,827 people were murdered last year in the United States. How many of them made national news?Ghostown42 wrote:Yeah, because murder isn't a real problem. "A shooting? People can slap a ribbon sticker on their car for whatever the cause of the moment is and feel better about themselves, feel like they did something, that they're showing the world they care. That's all that kind of thing has ever been about. I remember first really noticing it during the first Gulf War with the yellow ribbons. It's gotten much more pervasive since then.
It's a lot easier now. Now you just put up a ribbon pic on Facebook or change your profile pic and everyone knows that you really are a sensitive soul who really, really, really cares. You don't even have to go to the effort of putting a bumper sticker on your car now. The people who go to that much trouble at this point are the real saints.

You really need to straighten out your priorities. A person is murdered, and the only thing you're upset about is clip-art.ripper76 wrote:People can slap a ribbon sticker on their car for whatever the cause of the moment is and feel better about themselves, feel like they did something, that they're showing the world they care. Why don't you tell the victim's parents that you don't like the clip-art? Tell them that you don't like it because you think there's an agenda behind it. Please. I'd love to see how that works out.

People get to feel better about themselves, the preferred position on the issue gets promoted by the media, and nothing actually gets done about solving the societal problems that cause so many murders.
It's all very symbiotic and a continuous cycle.

And what wonderful, ingenious idea do you have to solve the problem?ripper76 wrote:People get to feel better about themselves, the preferred position on the issue gets promoted by the media, and nothing actually gets done about solving the societal problems that cause so many murders.

Murders over drugs or territory are far less tragic than a shooting at a school. I don't see the problem with supporting the victim in this case.

Barely hear anything about it. Because violence and evil didn't cause it

You are a tool. Minimal casualties? How many would it take to get your attention? I'm just happy it didn't happen in Florida. It would have been at least $17 dollars in damage

So there really wasn't a bombing? It's funny all the people in Copley square thought it was real

No they aren't. So the little girl who gets clipped during the drive-bye should think it is less tragic than kids who happen to be in school. Since when is the location of the incident the deciding factor?
