Just choose a candidate for the round and then nominate another candidate.Odogg wrote:How do you nominate guys? Time to start seeing Elvin Hayes and Big Game James at least on the list, imo.
Example:
You're voting for Pippen this round and would like to nominate Ervin Hayes.
Only reasonable nominations will be accepted.

OK thanks. I would like to nominate Elvin Hayes.

I'm going to have to go with my conscience here and vote for Ewing, even if it's not going to affect the outcome.

I didn't realize we're doing nominations again. I'd like to nominate George Gervin.

Beat you to it 5 posts above.
I was surprised no one had Nominated him?
Will his ABA days be held against him? On this board, YES.

Nothing complicated, I just like him better in this spot ahead of Thomas and Pippen.AbeVigodaLive wrote:ripper76 wrote:I'm going to have to go with my conscious here and vote for Ewing, even if it's not going to affect the outcome.

Well, you laid out your reasons very well. That kind of stuff is why we come to you for astute basketball stuff.

I'm not very emotionally invested either way, and making an argument about it to appease or sway you isn't very high on my list of priorities for today.AbeVigodaLive wrote:ripper76 wrote:Nothing complicated, I just like him better in this spot ahead of Thomas and Pippen.AbeVigodaLive wrote:

Ah, my bad. Yeah, it seems it was an oversight. (I reckon you're right about the ABA, though it didn't impact Dr. J negatively.)Master Spade wrote:americaninfidel wrote:I didn't realize we're doing nominations again. I'd like to nominate George Gervin.

Fair enough. These threads tend to be more basketball-heavy than the usual "Player A is great because Player B is bad" type of commentary we usually get.
Even some of the usual board antagonists get involved in deeper basketball discussions from time to time. Since your take was a bit unconventional, I thought maybe you had a viable reason for making it.

His ABA days shouldn’t hurt him, but for the puberty stricken Teens on this board, nothing before 2007 matters.
He played 10 season in the NBA, from age 24-33(1977-1986), averaging:
27ppg, 5rbs, 3asts, 1stl, 1blk, on 51.4%FG in the Regular Season, with basically the same numbers in the Playoffs.
Pretty damn good!
