I can see not putting a bunch into the last two rings. Heat fans won't want to hear this, but his role in those was not large enough to sway me. However, the 2006 title was completely different. He literally carried that team over the finish line. Isiah's teams when he won were very deep and talented teams. Like I said in earlier threads, he was more the first among equals than a Jordan or Bird. Yes, his teams beat Jordan and Bird but if you put an average cast around him, he was not winning shit.
But did Isiah have anybody on a level of a Kareem, Worthy, Parish, McHale, and/or Pippen like Jordan, Bird, and Magic had around them?
He didn't. But Dumars was no slouch.
The Pistons were a great team. They might not have had the marquee "stars" like the other teams did, but they were better than the sum of its parts or whatever that saying is.

No he wasn't but he wasn't on any of those guys level. Bird also had Dennis Johnson as well as Danny Ainge. Magic had Cooper and Byron Scott and Mychal Thompson. Jordan had Horace Grant and great shooters in Paxson and BJ Armstrong.
Isiah's team(s) rose in 87 and 88 then peaked in 89 but started to get worse record wise in 90 (even though they won the title), 91, 92, 93, and 94.
Rodman wasn't the Rodman that we all know from 92-98. In his early days from 87-91 he still was a very rebounder and defender in that span.

Early Rodman actually tried to help on offense other than rebounding.
And you can't throw in guys like Mychal Thompson and Cooper and Artmstrong and Paxson but fail to mention Laimbeer (All Star), Vinnie Johnson, Mark Aguire, et al.

Ma bad
Mark and Vinnie were the leading scorers for the Pistons in the 91 ECF's. The starters couldn't do crap.
Isiah didn't have another superstar on his roster (nor was he on that level at the time of his rings), but the guys 4-8/9 or so, were way, way, way stronger than the equivalent pieces on other teams.
Taking a break from the board. Please reference my last post for more details if you are interested.
