Oh yeah. The Duncan vs Kobe ordeal. I think I voted for Shaq both times though so meh. I understand you play to win, but there are other factors involved, these same factors are why you voted dirk over isiah despite Isiah winning more. It's a much tougher task finding one to build around Barkley. An older Hakeem obviously wasn't enough.
Barkley had pretty stats, but did he help you win more than Dirk? Did he stretch defenses to make it easier for others on the offensive end? Did he guard the paint to make it easier for others on the defensive end? Was he versatile enough to cover up the aforementioned flaws? Be honest.
Barkley was better in terms of individual play when looking at the stats. But Dirk can and did consistently lift an entire offense with his repertoire. Both players were unique in their own way. As far as all your versatility questions, ones of the same nature could be asked in the opposite direction. Was dirk ever able to control the boards allowing his teammates to get out early for easy transition baskets? Was dirk ever able to dominate in the painted area? Could dirk ever effectively guard a pnr?
Dirk is a great offensive player, but Barkley was better. Barkley shot a higher percentage, more offensive boards, more assists, equal amount of point(although Barkley does have a better career high as well as season high). I know it's easy to say dirk had the better offensive game because he was more versatile, but when does versatility matter more then effectiveness?
