He had a short prime due to injury. But how he performs in these next few years will probably define hus career the most, in my opinion.elmouse03 wrote:Thing about Wade is his career is riddled with injuries but when he was healthy and on he was close to unstoppable as can be.ripper76 wrote:I have been, and I'm probably kind of biased, but I think we're getting to the point were most impartial people have to consider him. Anyway Pippen is considered as a legit #2 option. While he does have 6 rings as a #2 option I can't put him over some of the 1's who have won it all and even some of the ones who have not.
I think Wade should be ranked higher than Pippen for sure.

Yeah, some of these other guys had careers riddled with injuries also. George Mikan only played 439 games over 7 seasons, but that doesn't seem to be held against him. Wade has played 719 going into his 12th season.elmouse03 wrote:Thing about Wade is his career is riddled with injuries but when he was healthy and on he was close to unstoppable as can be.ripper76 wrote:I have been, and I'm probably kind of biased, but I think we're getting to the point were most impartial people have to consider him. I think on a list like this I give more weight to a players peak than his longevity.

The biggest Things that I see Are hurting Pippen's Case:
-Only 4 out of 17 seasons of 20+ ppg
-Career post-Bulls outside of 2 all-defensive teams was anything but impressive.
-postseason FG% after 1993 is dreadful

Mikan didn't have the 82 game season though. He played in seasons that had 60-72 games from 49-54 and pretty much played in every game each of those seasons.ripper76 wrote:Yeah, some of these other guys had careers riddled with injuries also. I don't see how that makes a difference in a direct comparison between the two. Mikan played FEWER shorter seasons and only 61.1 pct of the number of games Wade played for his career.elmouse03 wrote:Mikan didn't have the 82 game season though. Can he be a guy to lead you to a championship? I mean the guy? I would take some guys who never won titles as #1 options over Pip as my guy I want to build around. Hurts because I am a Bulls and Pippen fan but it's the truth imo.y2ktors wrote:The biggest Things that I see Are hurting Pippen's Case:

Are you talking about when Mikan returned after 1 year of retirement and played in 37 games in 55-56?ripper76 wrote:I don't see how that makes a difference in a direct comparison between the two. I'm talking about the entirety of their careers. Mikan played a lot fewer, and shorter seasons, than Wade, yet people seem to want to hold Wade's "longevity" against him.elmouse03 wrote:Are you talking about when Mikan returned after 1 year of retirement and played in 37 games in 55-56?ripper76 wrote:I don't see how that makes a difference in a direct comparison between the two. There's got to be a fine line between high peak and judging longevity. I believe that Magic and Bird overcame their lack of longevity but had longer primes than Wade. Wade just has to be productive at a high level at this point in his career. It doesn't have to be a peak Wade. Just be a 20/5/5 player and play around 65 games per year.ripper76 wrote:Yeah, some of these other guys had careers riddled with injuries also. Jerry West was a player who missed chunks of games in several seasons but he sustained a high level of play post-prime.

Well it's not Mikan's fault for the era that he played in.ripper76 wrote:I'm talking about the entirety of their careers. Re: 2014 Anger General Geatest of All Time: #21 selection
Well Mikan with his numbers (particularly scoring) going down pretty much each year he was still pretty healthy from 49-54 with only missing 2 games in that span. That is 6 seasons of being healthy to Wade's 5 of his career.ripper76 wrote:That goes the other way too.elmouse03 wrote:Well it's not Mikan's fault for the era that he played in.ripper76 wrote:

Re: 2014 Anger General Geatest of All Time: #21 selection
Wade played over 70 games in 5 seasons. The last two championships he won are not included in those years. It's a bit silly to act like he had only 5 good years.elmouse03 wrote:Well Mikan with his numbers (particularly scoring) going down pretty much each year he was still pretty healthy from 49-54 with only missing 2 games in that span. I never said 5 good seasons. I said 5 healthy seasons of playing in at least 75 games. Wade has been good pretty much his entire career. Loved his 08-09 season.ripper76 wrote:Wade played over 70 games in 5 seasons. The last two championships he won are not included in those years. In Mikan's defense in this discussion, he accomplished a lot more in his healthy seasons that Wade did in his. Wade has 2006 while Mikan dominated over an extended period where he was winning titles routinely.ripper76 wrote:Wade played over 70 games in 5 seasons.
