I remember in the 01 WCSF vs the Spurs that Dirk got caught up on a switch on Duncan and the announcer is basically screaming that somebody else needs to get on Duncan other then Dirk. That was the series that Juwan Howard injured Derek Anderson who had his best season that year.y2ktors wrote:Usually as the competition gets tougher, ala the playoffs, ones efficiency usually drops a bit. Dirk's efficiency really didn't do that.Havlicekstealsit wrote:Dirk had zero All-Stars on his team the season he won the Finals.y2ktors wrote:Let's get some opinions and analysis on dirk.
Twenty times Dirk has made a late 4th quarter/OT field goal to give the Mavs the lead.
Higher ppg/rpg in playoffs than regular season.
Multiple 40-point playoff games (some in closeout games).
Top 10 all-time in offensive win shares.
Arguably one of the most clutch playoff performers in history.
There is only 3 instances that I can think of off the top of my head where Dirk struggled:
2006 Finals
2007 vs Golden state
2011 Finals (He won FMVP anyways)
I see no one with a stronger case than Dirk for this spot. It has zero to do with KG.

No problem with Dirk here, especially with Kg ahead of him.

Not that it matters but Havlicek had two votes by the second page.
Re: 2014 Anger General Geatest of All Time: #20 selection
With regards to Dirk, he doesn't belong above the likes of Baylor, Pippen, D-Robinson, Havlicek, Barkley and Isiah. But yes he's worthy of a spot in the 20's.

I'd put him above Isiah and Pippen.

I don't think there is really any player in that list that hasn't already been picked that is *clearly and obviously* ahead of Dirk, for what's it worth.
Taking a break from the board. Please reference my last post for more details if you are interested.

Argument for Charles Barkley:
Points 23,757 (22.1 ppg)
Rebounds 12,546 (11.7 rpg)
Assists 4,215 (3.9 apg)
NBA Most Valuable Player (1993)

NBA All-Star Game MVP (1991)
5× All-NBA First Team (1988–1991, 1993)

All-NBA Third Team (1996)
NBA All-Rookie First Team (1985)
NBA rebounding leader (1986–87)
He's the shortest rebounding champion of all-time, standing at 6'4 1/2.

So is Malone. I'm just saying all five guys have pretty impressive resumes in slightly different ways. None stand out too much from the others... each has a lot of strengths and a flaw or two too.
