Re: How Many Pts Would Jordan Average In Today's Eastern Con
The fact that someone will sit there and "honestly" confuse pace with "defensive toughness" is astounding to me...What pace did MJ's Bulls play at compared to the rest of the league btw...?Since we are talking about what a specific individual may or may not be able to "achieve" ubnder different circumstances....
Also, how difficult it was for "teams" to score isn't the issue....It's how difficult it was for "MJ" or "wing players" to score by comparison, then to now....again, we are talking about a specific type of player that the rules have changed to pamper...."league totals" are irrelevant.

If perimeter / wing players today can average 7-10 FTA per game while attempting only 15-18 FGA, prime Jordan would go to the line 15 time a game (on 20-23 FGA) and average at least 35-40 PPG today.

Re: How Many Pts Would Jordan Average In Today's Eastern Con
Haven't read the thread.
I think in today's NBA, probably a tiny bit more than he did back in his day (talking about first 3 peat and younger MJ now). Defenses have adjusted to rule changes and refs are not calling the ticky tack stuff nearly as much as they did in the period from 2006 to 2010 or so.
The better question in my mind is what he would have scored in the 2006 to 2009/10 type of time frame. I think the younger MJ would have gotten 35 plus pretty routinely on really great shooting percentages. He had the game that was absolutely tailor made for how the game was being called at that point in time.

The correct answer is, however many he wants to, most likely. In the context of playing winning basketball, probably not as many. Still high-20s to low-30s (or higher), though.

He was not the GOAT. Its not debatable.
MJ's environment was a product of him......KoMe and Bronze are products of their environment.
Where was Nike before MJ...? Suckin high tail tit to Converse AND addidas if I recall.
lol
EXACTLY... kids today have no clue.
Nike was a fledgling company when Jordan chose to endorse their shoe. MJ "made" Nike, not the other way around.

Re: How Many Pts Would Jordan Average In Today's Eastern Con
In the context of winning games, I bet they would be about the same, just distributed differently. Especially in some past years, he would have feasted at the foul line.
There are some factors that would bump him up, but some others that would depress his scoring a bit IMO. I do think the average team is more advanced and purposeful these days than when Jordan played for example, but the game is probably called a little bit more generously on the wings than in his day. I don't know how exactly pace adjustments would work out.
I do think the people who say he would average 40 a game are on planet cuckoo, however. There is no chance of that taking place.

Bean juicers- People only think MJ is the GOAT/better than Kome because of all the excessive media coverage and over exposure.thedangerouskitchen wrote:Jordan420Bulls wrote:Shill Jackson wrote:Once you nut swingers stop drooling, keep in mind that you feel the way you do about Jordan because of the marketing.

Do you think he was suspended, or quit?
Based on your response, the logical conclusion is that you believe he QUIT.
Ps-
Nobody hates Jordan, just the hyperbole from the swingers.
and Nike was well established before Jordan, but he certainly did much to establish them on the BB court.

he had no range wide open and he would have to shoot the three consistently in todays game.
25-27 ppg for a sg is bad now?

The fact that they call it weaker now and protect wing players. Can't play defense today. No hand checking. Jordan would eat this soft league apart the way they call fouls. No chance!?? Jordan averaged over 37ppg in 87', yet you think that him averaging just 3 more ppg with all the foul shots he'd get, along with all the rules changes that would benefit him as a wing player is Crazy talk!??
No. It's not crazy talk. The Man who led the league in Scoring 10 times, and has the highest PPG in NBA History could, and would average a mere 3 ppg more in today's game.
