No one nominated him.

Oh, I see... in that case I'll nominate Pippen for #15.

Hell, arguably the greatest perimeter Defender ever + 20/7/6 on 6 Championship teams ought to be enough for Top 15 considering the ratings for some of the other guys on this list.

6 robin rings (not meant as an insult), Dream Team member, and arguably GOAT perimeter defender is a solid resume. But others have better cases still IMHO.
Pippen averaged 20/7/6/48% on those 6 Championship teams... nevermind (arguably) the greatest perimeter Defense ever.

Explain how those other guys have better cases.
Where are u getting those #s from?

Ok, in that case I "vote" for Pippen at #15... :P

Why would you vote for Mikan to be in the top 10, then just stop voting for him while he is still on the board? It's almost as if you were voting for him just as an attempt to spite certain players, but when that didn't work you completely forgot about him

I stopped voting altogether actually, as soon as Oscar was selected #12 all-time... because at that point it became clear posters are not being consistent with the criteria they use to judge players. If they were then no way does a guy with 1 Ring and 1 regular season MVP get picked so high up on the list.

What do you mean you stopped voting altogether? You just voted for pippen. How do you vote for mikan in the top 10, then vote for pippen at 15 despite an earlier pick of yours still being on the board? Like I said, it's as if you realized your troll attempt was futile so you're now trolling a different angle

You're an idiot... clearly I was joking, evidenced by the " :P " placed at the end of my sentence. As noted, when Oscar Robertson is voted #12 all-time then there is no point is taking this list serious.

And FTR... I provided a plethora of reasons for Mikan at #10, to which you had -0- retort. So get lost.

What's your argument against big o being ranked at 12? If it's just the "only one ring and MVP" argument, that's pretty weak and will get torn apart. Serious question, would you rank pippen over him?

I think the Big O is fine at #12, I'm not seeing the problem tdk has here. He's a champ, MVP, put up gaudy stats, he's a 9x All NBA 1st team selection, 12x All Star.....

My biggest issue with his list is that somehow mikan is top 8-10 but he voted for someone else at 15 despite mikan still being on the board, that just doesn't make any sense

Saying the ABA sucked would have different levels of soundness based on the reference point.

Half of the best players at that time were in another professional league... making it the only 5 year stretch in NBA history where that was the case.

The inflated stats for countless players during that era would seem to collaborate my claim that both leagues were uneven.

Yes, but again, that says nothing about the absolute level of talent. It just speaks to the talent relative to something else (in this case, what would have been in a combined league).

For example, do you think the absolute level of talent in 1971 ABA was inferior to 1951 NBA, even though the NBA in 1951 had all the major talent in one spot?

Who are all these "countless" players, by the way?

I don't get why only 1 ring and 1 MVP award is the only thing u keep focusing on.

On Straight Basketball skill, He's arguably one of the top 10 if not 5 best players to actually play in the NBA. He could damn near do it all.

Dr. J leads the list.

The man averaged 15.7 rebounds as a rookie in the ABA. He joined the NBA in his prime in and is average dipped to 8.5, then down to 6.5 the next season.

Did he just completely change the way he played? Or, was he simply a superior athlete when competing against guys like Ira Hargue in the ABA instead of guys like Dave Cowens in a mixed league?

Plus, the late 70s are often considered the death knell of NBA basketball... right after the merger. Are you insinuating that two leagues right before the merger were stronger individually than when they combined only a few years later?
