I'm surprised at the huge lead that he has in this round.876Stephen wrote:I was wrong, guess it won't be competitive Dr J is winning this.

What the hell is Kobe doing over Shaq exactly?
Shaq, FAR MORE DOMINANT Prime (not even close). More ships as lead dog and more FMVPs.
The list already sucks

Well it's too bad you've been in hiding. If you'd been on during the earlier rounds you could have used all your alts to vote.DorianRo wrote:What the hell is Kobe doing over Shaq exactly?

The kobe fans refused to be denied when #8 came around and Kobe was not on the list yet.

No, that doesn't logically follow without a given reference point, because you aren't taking into account the magnitude of the original volume of talent vs. other eras.AbeVigodaLive wrote:Bush4Ever wrote:Dr. J, largely on the strength of his ABA years (which I would consider on par with the NBA at the time, at least in terms of talent).
Sure. But the point is that BOTH leagues were diluted.
So BOTH kinda sucked.
If you have two leagues of 25 A-level players each, that is still more talented within league compared to a single league of 20 A-level players.
The question is whether or not the talent overall in 1970 was enough to get split in two and still override other eras in absolute talent.
And again, if you measure relative to peer, the league was the same for everyone in terms of whatever you think the talent level was. Dr. J far, far outstripped his peers playing in the ABA, and transitioned reasonably well into the NBA at a semi-advanced age, being top 5 in PER routinely, making the AS game every year, leading the league in win shares twice, etc...
Obviously, if you compare the talent level within 1970 ABA and 1970 NBA it is weaker than what would have been 1970 ABA + NBA combined.
But it isn't clear to me at all that in terms of absolute talent the ABA couldn't match say...1960 NBA or certainly any NBA before the shot clock in terms of absolute talent.
Lots of moving pieces here.

Taking a break from the board. Please reference my last post for more details if you are interested.

What I am saying Abe, is that since "suck" is a relative term, you need to anchor it to some reference point.
Saying the ABA sucked would have different levels of soundness based on the reference point.

The list is OFFICIAL too, you whiny lil bitch. So deal with it.
My vote is for Dr. J, by the way.

Not for nothing but why are guys like Barkley, McHale, Malone, Robinson and Garnett listed for consideration and Pippen isn't... ?

6 robin rings (not meant as an insult), Dream Team member, and arguably GOAT perimeter defender is a solid resume. But others have better cases still IMHO.thedangerouskitchen wrote:Not for nothing but why are guys like Barkley, McHale, Malone, Robinson and Garnett listed for consideration and Pippen isn't... ?

Pippen could never put up the scoring numbers that some of them put up. McHale one time put up 26 a game while Bird put up 28.wailuaFC wrote:Because he wasn't as good of a player as themthedangerouskitchen wrote:Not for nothing but why are guys like Barkley, McHale, Malone, Robinson and Garnett listed for consideration and Pippen isn't... ?

Pippen averaged 20/7/6/48% on those 6 Championship teams... nevermind (arguably) the greatest perimeter Defense ever.PhutureDynasty wrote:6 robin rings (not meant as an insult), Dream Team member, and arguably GOAT perimeter defender is a solid resume. Explain how those other guys have better cases.
