Sorry guys... guys have scored 81 in the past decade. Guys have had 30+ rebounds in recent years. It's conceivable that an unearthly performance for one game gets it done. Nobody came within 750 minutes of catching Wilt. That's nearly 10 minutes every game... or put it another way... that's like another 15 games... it's just not possible because of all the factors out of the players control...

Wilt's a really tough player to get a read on...he bullshitted a ton and threw everybody under the bus, but there is some valuable information in his books/interviews.

Problem is parsing out all of the rubbish to get to the good stuff. Unless you lived through the era (which I didn't, and outside of a few individuals fortunate enough to have watched basketball going back to the 60s, pretty much all of us are speculating), it seems like quite the task.

I forget where I read this, but IIRC there was supposed to be a witnessed interaction where Wilt was talking with a lady friend, and she asked him about the 20,000 number and he said "what's an extra 0 between friends?"

So maybe 2,000 is more accurate.

Yes, he was very articulate. I've been trying to find more interviews of him lately.

His personality Was larger than life, which he fed into and got others to feed into. Ppl still feed into Wilt Chamberlain's stories to this day.
