LeTots at it again.
Bronze and KoMe shouldn't have been options until at least the 17-20 spots.

It's over, bro. There's no amount of your crying that'll change the undeniable FACT that Kobe is the 8th best player of All Time.

Top 20 sounds reasonable. Top 50, I think you'll start losing voters due to waning interest. I could be wrong though.y2ktors wrote:Let's at least get to 20.elmouse03 wrote:I think till we get bored of it. Maybe top 50.americaninfidel wrote:

Yeah but in that case, you have to have Pippen over Hakeem as well. And Duncan. And Bird. And Magic. You see where I'm going with this?

But that is why this one question HAS to be answered, I asked it before, but:
How many Titles as "#2" does it take to Equal just One "Lead Dog" Title?
Once we figure that out, we know where players like Pippen belong All Time.
One thing to remember, ANYONE on Jordan's team would be the #2, so....

Re: 2014 Anger General Greatest of All Time #11
That's a big problem right there, there's no such thing as lead dog rings or #2 rings, or "being carried" rings. Not all #2 options (or #1 or #7) were created equal. To say Otis Thorpe and Kobe's (first three peat) rings were of equal value is hilarious as one obviously played a much bigger role, just as 03 Duncan played a way bigger part then say Chauncey billups. Rather then relying on cliche terms like lead dog or being carried, look at the contribution the players madeMaster Spade wrote:lol! Of Course!LakersNeedShaq wrote:Master Spade wrote:

Re: 2014 Anger General Greatest of All Time #11
This *is* how it should be judged. It's important though, to recognize the makeup and logistics of these title teams, to have a better understanding of how the contributions came to be in the first place.wailuaFC wrote:[

The 2000-2002 Lakers are actually a good example. There is no question that Kobe had "elite level" individual production on par with many a-"lead dog" in history (at least in 01 and 02). But there is also no question that the success of the Lakers, especially offensively flowed from Shaq's activities outward, and that Kobe was productive to *that* degree at *that* time in no small part due to Shaq, whereby Shaq (almost always doubled and once in a while triple-teamed) also had elite level individual production, *while* carrying that heavy load.
Making straight equivalence amongst various "lead dogs" and various "sidekicks" is silly for the reasons you mentioned, but there can also be a false equivalence amongst various "levels of production" in terms of how important they were to the bottom line, since they were derived in very different conditions (being doubled and always the focus of the other teams defense vs. being single-covered and benefitting from said focus on other players).
Pretty simple idea that I think most people get (I'm sure you do), but sometimes not.
Taking a break from the board. Please reference my last post for more details if you are interested.
