Regardless, this is all secondary to the point for which you are trying to deflect: Your criteria is flawed and cherry-picked.

That, coupled with 6 Championships, and Scottie should easily be Top 10 using your criteria.

Pip was a 17-time All NBA/All Defense member (11 first-team), arguably one of the 10 greatest all-around players in NBA history, and arguably the greatest perimeter Defender in NBA history (and in the discussion for GOAT Defender, period.)
How many players in history can boast a more impressive resume of peer dominance...^^^... AND own 6 Championships?

Right... you did so accidentally. And I misquoted you on accident as well.
All good.

Barkley, Olajuwon, D-Rob and Malone won all other MVPs other than Jordan in from 1991-98. Explain this.thedangerouskitchen wrote:wailuaFC wrote:What years was he a top 3 player in the league? Larry Bird for #5.
Re: 2014 Anger General Top Ten Greatest of All Time: #4 selection
Interesting, so you have him as being a better player then some of the following, jordan, Hakeem, barkley, drob, Malone, olajuwon, Stockton, Ewing, and more? Do his stats back up this high praise you have? He was an excellent defender without a doubt and well rounded, but his overall contributions were no where near some of the players I mentioned. Anyways this discussion has obviously run it's course. I look forward to seeing the rest of your top 10 listthedangerouskitchen wrote:wailuaFC wrote:What years was he a top 3 player in the league? The main reason I didn't want magic #4 is I feel it's a dis-justice to separate he and bird, but since I have wilt slightly higher then them I need to vote for him next roundamericaninfidel wrote:8:09, time to call it. Magic is #4.y2ktors wrote:The voting for this round will end at 8 pm CST.

For 5, Bird. If Wilt had won 4, it would have been Magic. Go Hick from French Lick.

I have always had Bird at 5 myself, but considering Timmy added some hardware this year (and the fact that I'm a total Spurs homer), Duncan is my pick at #5 now. Although this isn't the official #5 thread yet.vcsgrizzfan wrote:For 5, Bird. If Wilt had won 4, it would have been Magic. Go Hick from French Lick.

I will have Duncan for 6 if Bird wins this round. If Wilt wins, Duncan will have to wait one more round. Truth be told though, he's got a good claim on 5.americaninfidel wrote:I have always had Bird at 5 myself, but considering Timmy added some hardware this year (and the fact that I'm a total Spurs homer), Duncan is my pick at #5 now. I'm using your criteria (of Winning and Peer dominance)... furthermore Pippen (like Russell) was an all-time great Defender, not "just" excellent. Scottie is regarded as the best Defender at his position (just like Russell), arguably the greatest perimeter Defender ever, and in the conversation of greatest Defender ever.wailuaFC wrote:Interesting, so you have him as being a better player then some of the following, jordan, Hakeem, barkley, drob, Malone, olajuwon, Stockton, Ewing, and more? Yet he doesn't get nearly as much credit for his Defense as Russell. Why the double standard?
Pippen completely dominated one-half of the game on a level very few can claim... and he averaged 20/7/6 for nearly a decade.
That peer dominance + 6 Championships is surely ----> than any guy on the list of players you mentioned, except for Dream.

I'll post one last time on this subject before ignoring your responses. Pippen did not dominate his peers like anyone in my top 10 list, his stats were inferior, and he does not boast the same accolades. I appreciate your effort of trying to equate pippen and Russell's defense but the fact of the matter is a perimeter defender can't have the same impact as a paint/interior defender, no matter how badly you wish us to believe they can. It's not all about defense with Russell, he never finished out of th top 4 for MVP voting other then his rookie/injured season (did pippen ever finish in the top 4?), he won 11 ships in 13 years as the leader of his team, won 2 ships I. College for a program that was terrible before and after he played there, and the immediate improvement of the cs when Russell got their and the immediate decline once he left speaks volumes. Anyways as I said before, I look forward to seeing the rest of your listthedangerouskitchen wrote:I'm using your criteria (of Winning and Peer dominance)... furthermore Pippen (like Russell) was an all-time great Defender, not "just" excellent. By the way that list was of players better then pippen during those years he was a supposed top 3 player
