What’s your Holiday plans?

Are you traveling? Staying home? Hosting? Drinking and eating home alone?

The extended family on my Mom’s side gets together ever year. I’ve avoided having to host so far but we got tapped this year so are expecting 45-50 people. Not really looking forward to hosting that many but it will he nice to not be running from place to place all day for once.

What are your plans?

Going to my wife’s cousins on Xmas eve… plan on getting shitfaced. I only drink on holidays now cuz I wanted to take a break, and so far I’m keeping the streak alive. Xmas morning prob open gifts with the wife and kiddos, and that afternoon we’re having my mom and sister over for dinner.

We have always hosted, to avoid dragging the kids around.
It’s a pain, but easier than driving. Easier to drink as well.
Start the day with a Baileys and coffee, then go from there.

Yea initially we were expecting about 30 because I have some family that has moved to Florida that haven’t been back for years and of course this is the year they decide to come back. We also invited my wife’s side so we didn’t have to worry about finding time to make it to them but her side is small in comparison so doesn’t add too much but that’s how it ballooned to its current headcount.

Luckily my mom’s side is Italian and more than willing to chip in for the menu so we really are only getting booze and making a few hams and a bunch others are bringing the rest of the meal. So not much food prep to do.

And getting shitfaced will definitely be on the agenda

Unusually quiet. My oldest daughter is expecting on January 4th (finally be a grandpa) so her and her sister who live in a neighboring province won't be coming home.

My girlfriend's kids and her siblings will all be in town so we are hosting multiple events and people are staying with us.

Personally, I wanted to travel this year (I've never traveled at Christmas - always just family), but with her family being all here, it was a non starter.

Thank you to you and Titan. Really looking forward to it. Grandpa has got to be the best gig ever. Never have to discipline, always the good guy and do all the fun stuff.

My daughter and my wife think of my mom as the sweetest old (as in she’s 61) lady in the world not knowing my experience of her being a drill sergeant back in the day.

It’s pretty funny how definitely grandmas and grandpas are toward their babies. I am glad you also get to be the fun grandpa with the little one.
