You still don't understand who you're dealing with,
What you're seeing is someone like Ballmer but in a league without a hard cap. He doesn't care if he needs to pay a big tax bill or lose money annually on the team.
Any FWIW, 15 years ago the highest paid player was A-Rod at 33m, 2nd was Manny at 23m. In 10-15 years the Mets will be able to eat Soto's money like it's nothing.
Re: MLB Off-Season & Hot Stove Discussion
Everyone has a budget eventually. If the team gets a ring he will be happy but if not he may decide to spend his money on another hobby. Likely one of the SoCal teams will keep knocking you off. It takes 26 players so you still have a ways to go

Re: MLB Off-Season & Hot Stove Discussion
His net worth has increased by $7 billion since buying the Mets. You're right that he has a ceiling but he will have no issue with paying over $400 million tax included on an annual basis if that is what it takes. And David Stearns will find cost effective solutions where he needs to ensure there is strong depth. You don't understand who you are dealing with yet. Dodgers are in the driver's seat but the Mets are coming. And the Padres certainly don't scare me.

Mariners move up to 3rd in the draft, nice.

Yankees and Cubs moving closer to Bellinger deal.
Re: MLB Off-Season & Hot Stove Discussion
Cubs finna get Kyle Tucker to ascend from an 83 win team to an 86 win team then back to 83 in 2026 when they inevitably let him walk.

Re: MLB Off-Season & Hot Stove Discussion
Tucker is a huge get but will they pay him $400 million next winter? I can easily see the Yankees stealing him away

KUB - signing Pete would make sense to hit behind Soto right? Also Mets set to make Burnes very rich?

Re: MLB Off-Season & Hot Stove Discussion
I saw a chart of his fly outs last year and then superimposed on Yankee Stadium. About ten or so fly outs become home runs, and about another 5-6 doubles and triples become home runs. He doesn't lose a single home run, and gains about 15-16 if he hits exactly as he did last year. I hate them Yankees as a Jays fan, but this looks like a great addition for them.
