How have you changed as a person since we started posting together?
How have you changed as a person since we started posting together?
I’m talking back to the ESPN days to now. Have you changed at all as a person? For better or worse?
Learned any valuable life lessons along the way? A lot of us were in our 20s when we started posting and are now in our 40s or getting close to it. We’ve married, had children, changed careers maybe, lost and gained loved ones, bought homes, etc.

Had some mountaintop and valley experiences. Overall life humbles you and makes you more patient and wiser.
Check the method from Bedrock, 'cause I rock your head to bed

Same. And that’s kinda where I’m at with it too. I find myself caring less about “outside my control” bullshit and only really worry about taking care of my family, keeping my health up, and trying to prepare for the future.AtiliusRegulus wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 3:26 pm Had some mountaintop and valley experiences. I’m pretty sure you guys red pilled me back in the day which will stick with me in life wherever I go for as long as it takes me.

If it makes you feel any better I was the same way. Realized later the woke crowd is just incredibly sensitive and they take some weird joy out of being victims.lettherebehouse wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 4:24 pm I’m pretty sure you guys red pilled me back in the day which will stick with me in life wherever I go for as long as it takes me.

Crazy when you sit back and think of how long some of us have posted and "known" eachother.
I was in my early 20s living in a state thousands of miles away from anyone I even knew when I created my account. Had a 3rd story tiny 2 bedroom apartment with barely any furniture.
Now, I'm married with a kid, living in a house in the Burbs. I've got 2 years until 40 but it feels like the time has accelerated as I've grown older.
I've changed a lot as a person between skills I've grown and a family that has changed a lot about how I live.
Been good shooting the shit with you guys over the years.

It’s pretty wild when you think about it. A lot of us are now Grizz and Star’s age when they first started posting at ESPN lolAlaskaHawks wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 6:29 pm Crazy when you sit back and think of how long some of us have posted and "known" eachother.

Pretty much entirely, since I started a a college freshman.
From the original AG-onwards I've probably become less tolerant, less academic, and aggressive on social/political topics.
And probably more religious in a sense.

For sure, I started off as a young buck arguing with airman on espn message boards in the back of college courses I should have been paying more attention to, to calming down and buying a home with my girl, to her dying (she had a heart condition and it’s the real reason we never got married or had kids), to finding someone else recently to help me gain some semblance of comfort. It’s been a wild ride, lots of different jobs, moved a few times, life’s been crazy, but one of the few constants has been all of you. Don’t know what that says about me, but it’s the reason I can’t ever leave the board for too long

Damn bro I don’t recall you being a widower… condolences. Not making light of your loss but how the hell do you always end up having the more interesting life?wailuaFC wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 8:42 pm For sure, I started off as a young buck arguing with airman on espn message boards in the back of college courses I should have been paying more attention to, to calming down and buying a home with my girl, to her dying (she had a heart condition and it’s the real reason we never got married or had kids), to finding someone else recently to help me gain some semblance of comfort. Never talked about it on here, you’re all too much of assholes, mean that in the nicest of ways to some of you, for me to bring it up when it was fresh. This seemed like a good enough thread and a long enough time to say it. As far as my interesting life, Riley dealt with a medical condition with his wife and moved cross country, you had your thing and ended up in Idaho, leoss bangs hookers and does pizza reviews, my life isn’t any more interesting than anyone else’s, I just don’t share it as often so it’s a bigger surpriseLNS wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 9:03 pmDamn bro I don’t recall you being a widower… condolences. Damn Wailua. Never would’ve guessed you dealt w such an unimaginable tragedy. Props to you for finding your way to the other side of that as tough as that must’ve been.
You’re right, we are assholes but I like to believe we pull it together enough when one of our brothers here is dealing with real life shit, regardless the poster.

Re: How have you changed as a person since we started posting together?
I mean I was like 13 or 14 when I first started so was I really even a sentient human at that point? Not really, although that didn't stop me from slapping around artman and others like him. Obviously I didn't yet have children and I hadn't met my wife, and they have reinforced every existing belief I had about family being the most important thing there is and how important it is to orient my life around them. On a less important level I also wasn't nearly as political or red pilled but frankly back then there was a lot less to be red pilled about in a cultural and political sense. My more shallow interests have remained the same, just as based, I would love to hit up a new Marvel movie with the 2007 version of myself but one day I will get to do that with my son.

Sorry to hear that bro. I can't imagine what that must have been like. I've experienced 2 pretty devastating events in the last decade or so and I'm not bold enough to share them here, I hope to one day reach the level of acceptance that you're at.

Re: How have you changed as a person since we started posting together?
One note that is pretty god damn epic, if I say so myself - when I started posting, as a teenager just starting High School or so, maybe even in 8th grade, I was a fan of Rafael Nadal. He just retired on Monday. What a run lol, I shed tears over his wins and losses as a kid and eventually I was watching him with my son who knows him and likes (and even plays) tennis.
