Anyone use an electric toothbrush?
I just got one (Sonicare) and I'm not sure if I like it or not.
I read you aren't supposed to apply a lot of pressure to it, and just let it more or less glide along your teeth, angled up to where the teeth meet the gum line.
After following all that, im not so sure if my teeth "feel" as clean as when I scrubbed the hell out of them manually.
Do you guys like them?

They're objectively better for your teeth than manual brushes.

Great, I'll stick with it. It was a change from what I've been doing literally my whole life, so It'll take a little time to get used to.

yeah. i made a thread about mine a few months ago. i love it. but i also got my teeth whitened with lasers that’s really the way to go. i did two sessions of extra strength on back to back days and the results were nice. when i’m back in miami im gonna get them whitened even more.

I've had one about 4 or 5 years now and like it much better. But you need to get a water pik...that's the game changer. You can brush your teeth until you're blue in the face...then you use the water pik between all your teeth and you'll get all kinds of stuck food particles flying out your mouth.

No it's fine, I guess. It's just that with normal brushing I brushed too hard maybe but my teeth "felt" clean. with the electric TB it does the job but I feel like I could have done a better job with manually brushing.Alex_Murphy wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 9:03 am yeah. i made a thread about mine a few months ago. i love it. but i also got my teeth whitened with lasers that’s really the way to go. i did two sessions of extra strength on back to back days and the results were nice. when i’m back in miami im gonna get them whitened even more.

those bristles are oscillating a hundred times a second. you can apply some pressure if you want if you apply to much is has auto shut off feature. just be sure to get all sides of your teeth and rub it around your gum line as well.CleveTown™ wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 9:55 amNo it's fine, I guess. Re: Anyone use an electric toothbrush?
Manchild is right. Waterpik makes a big difference. I usually end up flossing, doing the waterpik (oddly enough, flossing alone doesn't get all the stuff trapped between teeth) and then brush (evening routine).
In the morning, I brush my teeth while having a cold shower (yeah, I know that sounds odd to people, but it has been part of my routine for a long time) and one of the great things about having an electric toothbrush, is that they are set to go exactly two minutes each cycle, so I know exactly when I can turn the water to warm. I do have a tendency to move the brush around too much as if I am brushing with a manual, but I just can't seem to shake that.

I used to use hard bristles also, but on an Andrew Huberman podcast (he consulted with a million dentists on a protocol to look after your teeth), dentists were almost unanimous apparently in advocating softer bristles, so I now use the soft bristle toothbrush heads only.lettherebehouse wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 11:24 am I use the hardest brissels I can find and straight manhandle that bitch til she bleeds no troll

Re: Anyone use an electric toothbrush?
My dentist advised me to also use a baby toothbrush for those teeth in the far back that are angled.
She said I was doing a great job on the other teeth, but wasn't hitting the far back ones on either side, probably because of the size and angle. Therefore, use a baby toothbrush to have more control of the angle/fit and squeeze in there.

As a dentist I say use the medium bristles. Rafa use the soft bristles and when I do the checkup for him his breath smells like dirty socks.

that’s disgusting! His gut health must be horrible! That would explain his big bloated belly. He probably has all kinds of foot fetish bacteria swimming in there.

Yep, this, and a smaller toothbrush head to get the back teeth as well._Vcsgrizzfan_ wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 11:36 amI used to use hard bristles also, but on an Andrew Huberman podcast (he consulted with a million dentists on a protocol to look after your teeth), dentists were almost unanimous apparently in advocating softer bristles, so I now use the soft bristle toothbrush heads only.lettherebehouse wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 11:24 am I use the hardest brissels I can find and straight manhandle that bitch til she bleeds no troll
And the water pik is a game changer.

Clevey, if you get a water pik you'll pop some Bulgogi still stuck in your teeth from 20 years ago.

Re: Anyone use an electric toothbrush?
I didn't go to the dentist for almost 10 years and really no good reason for it, I just didn't.
They suggested I get an electric brush, and told me I was brushing too hard also. I do not like the feeling of the electric brush even a little bit so I stayed with medium bristles.
I've gone 38 years without a cavity so I'd say it's working okay.
