Israel taking this much time to launch their revenge attack
Makes me believe it will be very significant. More than most people believe at the moment.
I don't think Netanyahu will be timid. It will take Iran a long while to recover.

Re: Israel taking this much time to launch their revenge attack
Initially it sounded like Israel was deciding between the Iranian nuclear program vs. oil sites as a target, now it sounds like Israel will land somewhere in-between and focus on military installations and intelligence sites.
Reportedly Israel had no real plan for how to target Iran's nuclear program until Bennett became PM in 2021 and made the IDF come up with a plan. It will take many thousands of pounds of bombs to take it out as Iran's key nuclear sites are either in mountains or extraordinarily far underground. But if Iran retaliates in response to Israel's upcoming retaliation, that is what we're going to see.

I am not convinced of any outcome at present. I don't think Netanyahu is the type to tell anyone what the hell he will ultimately do. I think everyone is mostly guessing and looking for clicks. I am convinced though, that it will be vicious.kobeunderbite wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 3:39 am Initially it sounded like Israel was deciding between the Iranian nuclear program vs. oil sites as a target, now it sounds like Israel will land somewhere in-between and focus on military installations and intelligence sites.

Bibi is not all that hawkish despite what people are saying now. If he was, October 7 wouldn't have even happened. But I agree that while Israel will pull its punches it will still be a meaningful retaliation.

You are more plugged into this than I am, obviously. I was mildly surprised to hear you say Bibi isn't that hawkish. That was certainly not my impression, but my knowledge is much more superficial than yours.

He had engaged with the Palestinian Authority repeatedly in the past in order to try to improve a hopeless situation. He passed up numerous opportunities to weaken Iran and its proxies in the past. He didn't even agree to help the United States kill Solemani.
There is a perception in the international community that he and his government are leading Israel down a path its citizens don't care to follow and that he is the obstacle to a ceasefire-hostage release. It couldn't be further from the truth. There isn't a politician in Israel who could get elected right now without a war-oriented agenda. After 10.7 virtually all Israelis recognize that peace and security are not possible without the destruction of Hamas. Most of the "ceasefire now" crowd on the Israel side is essentially a repurposed version of the same organizations that protested against Netanyahu 24/7 prior to 10.7 and wanted him ousted by any means necessary. Not unlike the 'never Trumpers' in America. It's not really about the war or the hostages for them.
It's Sinwar and Hamas who will not make a deal unless Israel includes a complete 'get out of jail free clause' whether it be the release of thousands of terrorist prisoners, complete IDF withdrawal from Gaza and the Philadelphi corridor where they smuggle in weapons and supplies from Egypt, etc. Just complete non-starters.
Bibi is not some right wing extremist. He is fairly pragmatic and the views of members of the real far right in Israel, including within Bibi's own coalition, would make Bibi blush.

You won't get a surer sign that Hezbollah is getting its shit pushed in hardcore, they now want a ceasefire independent of what is happening in Gaza. The ultimate acknowledgement of defeat, I pray Israel does not let up or accept.

Re: Israel taking this much time to launch their revenge attack
Israel can’t and won’t retaliate because they are getting absolutely destroyed in Lebanon. IDF soldiers are dropping like flies. You LOVE to see it!
Some things never change. Israel getting BTFO in Lebanon just like they did in 2000, the sequel in 2006, and now part III in 2024. Israel has never had a real military, but now they’re being exposed as complete frauds live in HD. Israel relies on air superiority and intelligence (both courtesy of America) to shock and awe civilians and carry out high profile assassinations. But when it comes to invading and holding territory, they always fail. Sort of like America’s military post-WWII. Funny, isn’t it?
Israel’s occupation of Lebanon from 1982-2000 was a disaster every step of the way. Now Israel isn’t even capable of occupying Lebanon, let alone holding it which they could never do anyway.
That’s why I’ve become bored with this one entire conflict. I already know what’s gonna happen. Wake me up when Russia gets involved.

Didn’t I call a ceasefire previously with one of the intent of the ceasefire being to preserve the pseudo image of Israel’s invincibility? Well this is what you have.kobeunderbite wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 2:40 pm You won't get a surer sign that Hezbollah is getting its shit pushed in hardcore, they now want a ceasefire independent of what is happening in Gaza. The wake up call for Israel was the iron dome being pierced, now the American and eu leaders have to save Israel and save face by negotiating a cease fire and also negotiating with Iran what Iranian targets Israel has to hit.
Israel cannot defeat Iran, even with Americas aid. It will take a coalition of all Sunni countries and even that is iffy at best if Russia and China decides to keep supplying Iran via overland trade routes.

Who said a ceasefire is coming...It looks like one side is crying for one again. Israel could have ended this 6 months ago lol...And can now, but they chose not to. Iran isn't tough, that is a progressive/liberal view point...Nobody is scared of Iran except democrats lolAtiliusRegulus wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 4:13 pmDidn’t I call a ceasefire previously with one of the intent of the ceasefire being to preserve the pseudo image of Israel’s invincibility? The ceasefire must be done in such a way to preserve Israel’s image and this is why the Akbar has marched out in front of the cameras pretending to cry for uncle.Thedictator wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 4:25 pmWho said a ceasefire is coming...It looks like one side is crying for one again. Lots or negotiations go behind the scenes and trust me Israel eu and America had to give up a lot.
And Israel must give advance knowledge of the sites they intend to strike as well as those sites themselves.
And the hurricanes in America made this ceasefire even more urgent since it will look bad for Congress and Biden to pass emergency funding bill to give Israel weapons while Americans are suffering in Florida north Carolina etc

Re: Israel taking this much time to launch their revenge attack
Israel isn't going to do a ceasefire....They have no reason, they destroyed Gaza and Lebanon is on it's way as well...After both are destroyed nobody will be able to live there. There is no economy there, and the other Arabs hate them, so they won't be able to rebuild. They have already lost...AtiliusRegulus wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 4:30 pmThe ceasefire must be done in such a way to preserve Israel’s image and this is why the Akbar has marched out in front of the cameras pretending to cry for uncle.Thedictator wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 4:25 pmWho said a ceasefire is coming...It looks like one side is crying for one again. Iron dome is pierced. The difference between Israel and Akbars is that Israel love their lives more than they hate their enemies. Akbar hates their enemies more than they love their lives hence their zeal is at once homicidal and suicidal.Thedictator wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 4:33 pmIsrael isn't going to do a ceasefire....They have no reasonAtiliusRegulus wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 4:30 pmThe ceasefire must be done in such a way to preserve Israel’s image and this is why the Akbar has marched out in front of the cameras pretending to cry for uncle.Thedictator wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 4:25 pm
