Cali has amazing Mexican food and of course in n out. Everything else I had when I was there for a week in 2022 was pretty mid TBH.

I did fail to have any seafood when I was out there so that was also provably my fault.

Also, if I remember correctly, when you were in California, you were in the Temecula area...There are a few decent places there, but very low on the totem pole as far as California goes...

Correct, did spend half a day in San Diego and a day in LA area. In LA we ate at a Mexican place for lunch which was phenomenal and what was suppose to be an high end Italian joint in Santa Monica which was a bit disappointing.

If you ever hit San Diego again, Tacos El Gordo in El Cajon, or Las Cuatro Milpas in Barrio Logan. Or, if you want a great burger, Hodads in Ocean Beach...
I am not an L.A. aficionado because I the city is fucking trash, but if you got the scratch, BOA's in Santa Monica is a great experience, but, truth be told, when I do go to L.A., I like to go to Fat Sal's and get the Fat Jerry...You will be eating that sandwich for 2 days...

Perhaps it was just a bad day for the joint, but the first/only time I had an in-out burger I thought I was eating the bottom of a shoe... dry, tough, and not much flavor at all. I ate it in shock as the hype for the burger was sooo high. I thought, WTF... then I remembered I was in California (lol) not Chicago, which has the best food in the country IMO... with NY a close second.

But I digress...

As for the GOAT fast-fod burger it's easily Fuddruckers (assuming that's considered fast food of course).

I thinkk In n Out is a little overrated, but two things are for sure...They NEVER have dry burgers, and your old ass has never eaten there with that stupid, biased opinion...

STHU dementia... I was in San Diego about 6 years ago when I ate there, and YES fool, the burger was dry and tasteless; definitely waaaay overcooked to my liking anyway... reminded me of a steak n' shake burger TBH.

As noted, however, perhaps it was just a bad day for them, as we went during the week at lunchtime and the place was packed out the door. Regardless... on a scale of 1-10 I'd give it a solid 2.

I had this built up image of it based on this board and some other Cali friends. I found it pretty generic and very overrated. I'd try it again someday but won't go out of my way for it.

you just don’t understand in an out. in and out gets its rep based on a few key characteristics. 1. it’s freshly made their ingredients and brought in locally and everything is crisp and patties are fresh … it’s a good burger like you would find at your uncles backyard cookout. 2. it’s cheap af… it’s like $5-6 for a double double and that is a bargain for a fresh tasty burger and they’re able to keep the price low because they control the costs of their ingredients thru their own supply chain and logistics. 3. it’s delicious and filling. given all the above you’re getting a tasty burger which may not be the best burger in the world but you’re only paying a few for a burger that isn’t microwaved like some joints and is accompanied by the freshest veggies and tasty ass spread.

now the fries leave something to be desired but that doesn’t mean i won’t scarf them down by and handful. they get the job done. now what you’re thinking when you say it’s nothing special is that you’re comparing it to some chain charging you $10-15 for their burger which is fine maybe it’s bigger or on a more exquisite bun or whatever but when comparing price points to other $5-6 burgers it’s not even close.

I’m a certified Cali hater and went to in n out for the first time already convinced in my mind it was going to suck and not live up to the hype but I was wrong and couldn’t deny it. It’s indeed goated in terms of fast food burgers. Game recognizes game.

Now saying the fries leave something to desired is generous at best. The fries are fucking garbage. So in terms of fast food burgers only, In n Out is the goat. However if we’re talking about quality of overall meal including the fries then in n out takes a hit and a place like Culver’s would definitely leap frog them on the list with their tasty, crispy, crinkle cut fries goodness with the perfect amount of salt.

Big Mac is the worst burger at McDonald’s. It’s mostly bread and lettuce. The quarter pounder delux is much better.

2) double butter burger delux - Culvers
3) Double cheese burger - Dairy Queen
4) Jalapeño Cheese Slider - White Castle
5) Dave’s double - Wendy’s
6) quarter pounder delux - McDonald’s

Never had Carl jr to be honest, we have Hardee’s here which I’ve been told is the same thing but haven’t had it in 10 years and remember it being meh

Finally tried Culver's today...Not gonna lie...It was pretty goddamn good...Very similar to 5 guys, which is up there for me...
