Mets vs. Braves doubleheader thread
A neutral site relocation would have made the most sense. With that being said I don't blame the Braves, every other team probably does the same thing and insists on the home games.
However a doubleheader 24-hours before a postseason series starting across the country in San Diego or Milwaukee is fucked. Who is going to pitch? The Mets and Braves will be burning their top-3 this weekend so you're looking at heavy bullpen games in the doubleheader, so game 1 of the Wild Card you need to bring back your #1 from Friday night on short rest with a burnt bullpen lol? Insanity. Amazing break for SD or MIL.
It was looking like Arizona would do everyone a favor and fall out of the race but now that the division is gone San Diego has nothing to play for this weekend so Arizona will remain in the thick.

Re: Mets vs. Braves doubleheader thread
There is zero good reason why the Mets and Braves shouldn't both agree to just forfeit a game each here and call it a day, this could be the dumbest scheduling fuckup I have ever seen. In theory both teams are in good position, the loser of game 1 will face an opponent in game 2 that is resting all of its guys and just crammed a champagne celebration into a 30-minute window but I still don't feel good about the Mets odds heading into Atlanta to play must-win games.

Not being a pussy kiddo, but this team is a shell of itself...They are playing the Mets though, and if any team is capable of crumbling under the pressure, especially against the Braves, its them.kobeunderbite wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2024 9:14 amrileymartin wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2024 9:05 am Unfortunately, I expect the Braves to lose both games...Just dont have enough bullets in the gun...

If the Mets dont sweep today, it will be an embarrassment of futility...This is their golden opportunity to finally beat their daddy...

The Mets are in a rebuilding year, no one expected 88 wins out of them let alone 89 and a playoff spot and the best record since June 1. Obviously the Braves would have won the division if they remained perfectly healthy, but no one remains perfectly healthy, and significant injuries are just baked into the cake when you rely on charmin soft stars like Acuna with 0 good knees and Strider whose injury I predicted like Nostradamus.
The Mets have already significantly overachieved on a punt year while the Braves are on the brink of one of their most primed seasons being flushed down the toilet. That's all on David Stearns, and Anthopolis too.

Sorry kiddo, but you have made it loud and clear that the Mets dont rebuild...They are the Dodgers and the Yankees...They have the highest payroll in baseball...kobeunderbite wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2024 9:40 amrileymartin wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2024 9:30 amNot being a pussy kiddo, but this team is a shell of itself...They are playing the Mets though, and if any team is capable of crumbling under the pressure, especially against the Braves, its them.

The Mets chose Manea and Bader over Snell and Bellinger, this isn't up for debate lol. And yes the Mets do have the highest payroll, but when you remove the $100 million of players playing for other teams, it's middle of the pack.
This is what the new President chose to do, take a step back. And it worked.

ESPN had Cy Young Sale listed as the Game 2 starter. WTH?
Braves suck, so does riley.

MVP, there is no question. Ohtani is the best player in the game but Lindor is the most valuable. They need to slap a C on his chest.
As weird as it is to say I'm in a very serene state and I won't be devastated if we get blitzed by the Padres or Brewers in the next few days. 89-90 wins, playoffs, celebrating on the Braves field after the most spectacular regular season game in Mets history, future looking bright, I'm good with whatever happens next. The boys should take a deep breath and give it their best shot but it's all good either way, we weren't supposed to be here. What they gon say now?

The Mets and their 300 million plus payroll had the perfect opportunity to knock the severely undermanned Braves squad out of the playoffs, and they failed…What else is new…

Poor Dbacks. Scored the most runs across baseball this year and had to watch 6 hours of baseball yesterday only to miss out.
