Saw The Two Towers in IMAX tonight

Post by kobeunderbite »

I'm an 'extended is canon' guy, but I have to say, throwing it back to the theatrical edition was crazy. The pacing is so tight and high energy, there is not a single wasted moment or 'bathroom scene,' maybe you get there with the Aragorn-Arwen stuff but otherwise it's 100% quotable and memorable. You feel a couple of things missing like the Boromir flashback and the 'you've shown your quality, the very highest' but I understand why they arrived at the theatrical cut. It's the fastest 3 hours imaginable, they just don't make them like that anymore, it is a 10/10 masterpiece. It kind of makes me second guess my longstanding belief that Fellowship is the strongest of the three. I mean it probably is the best pure movie, but there is way more down time too.

It’s easily the best of the three.
Hearing how Jackson used the old movie “Zulu” as his guide was great.
