Board Census: Jordan or Lebron for GOAT.
Simply taking a survey of who’s on which side. Please vote and reply with either “Lebron” or “Jordan”

Jordan. Lebron is a great athlete but is a colluding hobo who sought greatness through stat padding.

Jordan is the GOAt. Lebron is definitely right behind him though.

I also say Jordan. Not gonna explain myself. But Jordan did more with less and was ruthless.

Re: Board Census: Jordan or Lebron for GOAT.
My real answer is something along the lines of being agnostic and saying "it actually does depend on how you define the criterion (career value)", but for the purposes of the board my answer is whatever makes Jordan Jockers the most upset.
Re: Board Census: Jordan or Lebron for GOAT.
MJ’s peak vs Lebron’s longevity is what it boils down to. The tipping point for me is that there have been players that are also in the GOAT debate like Kareem and Russell who have similar or better accolades than MJ. But Lebron is in uncharted territory of longevity. Not only does Lebron have literally every single “youngest to” point record (1,000 points, 2,000 points, 3,000 points… 40,000 points), but he now has a bunch of old man records too (oldest player to average 25.7ppg for example).

This is how I view it as well, despite personally thinking it's LeBron.Bush4Ever. wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 10:04 am My real answer is something along the lines of being agnostic and saying "it actually does depend on how you define the criterion (career value)".

Looks like we can officially wrap this up!
Re: Board Census: Jordan or Lebron for GOAT.
I think Jordan had the higher peak, but having 10 more bites at the Apple is too overwhelming of an advantage. I value longevity of elite play more than most, so I think LeBron is the goat and I think KAJ vs Jordan is a tough argument as well.

Lots of homers here while those who know, know
Who would you want on your team in a game 7
That's your answer
These children don't have a clue and don't understand greatness.
It's not stats or longevity or records based on longevity
Lebron will NEVER surpass Jordan. It's not even a viable thing

Michael Jordan averaged 33.7 points, 7.7 rebounds and 7.0 assists in 3 games in game sevens in his career. (2-1 record)elartman1973 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2024 3:56 pm Who would you want on your team in a game 7

LeBron James has averaged 34.9 points, 9.9 rebounds and 5.6 assists in 8 games in game sevens in his career. (6-2 record, 2-0 in the Finals)
Yep, that was the board's answer indeed.

Re: Board Census: Jordan or Lebron for GOAT.
That doesn't answer the question. Stats?? Get real how many points assists and rebounds were needed? Who guarded and shut down the other teams best player? Who covered them ans how many?LeBronMonsterDunk wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2024 4:02 pmMichael Jordan averaged 33.7 points, 7.7 rebounds and 7.0 assists in 3 games in game sevens in his career. Nobody feared lebron anywhere remotely close to how Jordan was feared.
Lebron also had to chase rings by team hopping and colluding.
Just stop. You are too young to know and lack credibility on the topic...hence relying on stats and nothing else
Are you people really this dumb?
