And it isn't a made up stat. It is simple as hell, if you aren't brain dead. It demonstrates the strength of the opponent better than any other statistic.AlaskaHawks wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 2:46 pmThen do seasons without Pippen.thedangerouskitchen wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 2:31 pmNo idea what made-up stat that is BUT... now do it for their Conference opponents.

I would be interested in seeing what the net ratings for the regular seasons were. Just isolating the playoffs probably skews some of the data.AlaskaHawks wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 2:46 pmThen do seasons without Pippen.thedangerouskitchen wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 2:31 pmNo idea what made-up stat that is BUT... now do it for their Conference opponents.

In both cases, it would have zero effect because we are talking about the opponents.thedangerouskitchen wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 3:13 pmSure... then do it without multiple HOF caliber teammates on the roster.AlaskaHawks wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 2:46 pmThen do seasons without Pippen.thedangerouskitchen wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 2:31 pm

And THAT is why many of these "stats" you worship are complete garbage, meatball... as only a person with a Basketball IQ of 1 believes that the 2011 Mavs (among other teams on that list) are better than every Finals opponent Jordan faced._Vcsgrizzfan_ wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 3:09 pmAnd it isn't a made up stat. You're an idiot, it's just that simple.

So you really believe the 2011 Mavs are better than every Finals opponent Jordan faced, eh?

The 2011 Mavs that steamrolled the defending champion Lakers and beat the Thunder? Yea they were very good… but were still underdogs against Miami, except Lebron laid an egg. What was the best team the Bulls faced? I’m seriously asking.thedangerouskitchen wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 3:30 pmSo you really believe the 2011 Mavs are better than every Finals opponent Jordan faced, eh?

Better than WHO? No team Jordan faced in the Finals ever won a title after he faced them. Only ONE team Jordan faced in the Finals ever made the Finals a second time after he faced them.thedangerouskitchen wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 3:30 pmSo you really believe the 2011 Mavs are better than every Finals opponent Jordan faced, eh?
The West was full of mediocre parity throughout the 90's.
Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are dumber than that.

They were a very good team, but your argument is a straw man. You are pretty much incapable of making intelligent arguments.thedangerouskitchen wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 3:30 pmSo you really believe the 2011 Mavs are better than every Finals opponent Jordan faced, eh?
Like I said in an earlier post, I would rather look at a combination of both playoff net ratings and regular season net ratings. That would provide a better overall indication.
But overall, Jordan's finals opponents were not particular good, and certainly were far inferior to the Pippen/MJ led Bulls. The Bulls, on a relative basis, were taking on punching bags.

Anybody who would rather have prime lebron over prime Jordan In any series has got to be an absolute fucking idiot.
Let it go and stop being so insecure lebron fags. It's not and never been about stats or longevity.
Jordan's best will ALWAYS be superior to Lebrons best.
period.

I don't have the data, and I'm not going to get it, but I think in general they would obviously be pretty weak. The eastern conference during his hey day was not as bad as the west when the Lakers ruled the west in the 80s, but not far off.Da Stars. wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 3:58 pmAfter biting my tounge, breaking fingers, hyperventilating, just for grins on this old topic. Re: LeBron officially surpasses Michael Jordan!
There are 4 guys you can legitimately make a case for GOAT, for different reasons, depending on what you value most.
Those guys are Russell, MJ, Kareem and now LeBron.
In my personal ranking, I would have Russell first, because of his incredible consistent winning at every level. In his last 15 seasons of college and NBA basketball, he won 13 titles (11 NBA and 2 NCAA titles) and made another final but lost in part because he was injured. It didn't matter who he played with, he just won titles. I can't overlook that, even if it was in an era where that was obviously easier to do.
I think if I had a gun to my head, I'd rank Kareem next because I think he was the easiest of the remaining three to build around. Especially when he played, a dominant C was how you wanted to build your team.
My thinking on this has changed over the years. I would have ranked MJ ahead of Kareem until relatively recently. As I've thought about it more, my respect for KAJ and how you could build around him "relatively" more easily has made me move him up one notch.
Gun to my head, I'd have MJ 3rd and LeBron 4th but it's not like there's a lot between them. LeBron has a big longevity advantage, but MJ had the higher peak and more hardware (even if I believe that circumstances have a big role in that).

Jordan was dunking on countries by 50 pts per game sometimes leading as much as 100. And beating down all the NBA greats in practice.
And tbh the counties around the world were a lot better back then.
